This Sunday - Global Growth & Baptism

We are really excited to be holding this week’s service at Debs and Tim Stanhope’s House in Carnon Downs. This is our current plan but may change due to weather - so please keep an eye on your emails and facebook on Saturday where we will be sharing our final plans for the day.

This Sunday we come to the end of our recent series in Acts. Over the last few weeks we have seen the risen Jesus commission his apostles to take the message of Jesus to the ends of the earth. We have seen the Spirit given to those apostles and to the church to power the gospel spread. We have watched as we have seen the apostles opposed and their message rejected, yet wonderfully we have seen the church grow.

This week we come to the end of this opening section in Acts and the end of our series - and once again, as it says at the end of our passage this week “the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly” Acts 6:7. 

The service will start at the usual time of 9.30 outside in the garden. Some chairs will be available but if you have a camping chair please bring it along. During the service some of our church members will be baptised or affirming their faith in the pool. There will also be times of worship from our church band.

It will be the final week the children will be meeting together before their summer break so they will be having an end of year party in their groups.

Afterwards, everyone is invited to a bring and share lunch in the garden as well as a swim in the pool, so don’t forget your swimming costumes! Thank you for signing up to bring either a savoury or sweet dish.

There will also be an opportunity for anyone who is new to Christ Church to enjoy cake and coffee and find out more about the life of our church.

It will be a really wonderful time to celebrate as a church family. Please pray for everyone committing to following Jesus through their baptism or affirmation.

Time of Commitment -Tonight

Do join us tonight for our evening of commitment and praise. This is the finale of EQUIP.

We will be gathering at St Kea Church for a BBQ at 5:30pm (there will be a small contribution towards food if you are able). At 6:30pm we will join together in a time of praise and thanksgiving led by a wonderful band from both congregations. As part of that time, we will each have the opportunity to share how we want to offer our lives in the service of God. (There will be informal provision for the children.)

Our next Christ Church Prayer Meeting is happening on Thursday 27th July 7:30pm at Alan and Jean Stanhope’s home.

It is wonderful time to gather together and hear about the great things happening in our church, as well as praying for one another. Do join us.

Summer Sundays at Moresk

The launch of our new summer series called ‘The Flipped Kingdom’ will start on Sunday 30th July. The series will follow Jesus and his disciples through the book of Matthew. As they travel around Galilee we will discover his upside down, counterculture way to live. His kingdom is unlike any earthly kingdom.

Services will be all age and have interactive activities for everyone to enjoy.

We wont be meeting in our usual venue over the summer (from 30th July - 3rd Septermber), but instead will be at the Moresk Centre, which is located just down the hill from ABB school.

Save the date - Sunday 20th August

We will be meeting for our annual trip to the beach on Sunday 20th August at 10am. There will not be a service on this day. More information on this event to follow.

Weekly Prayer Points

Each week there will be a few things for our church life and church family that we can join together in praying for:

1. This week we pray for all our children as they come to the end of another year at school. We pray for fun, refreshment and a close walk with Jesus throughout the holidays, and for them as they prepare for the next step of their education, whether this is moving year groups, or moving schools. Please pray too for those going on summer camps or ventures to have a wonderful holiday and get to know Jesus better.

2. We thank God for the work of Tearfund. This week Pray for Tearfund’s partner, Jesus Cares Ministries, that God would bless them and provide for them so they can roll this programme out in more communities. Pray they would grow in wisdom and knowledge in their work.

3. We pray for St Allen Church and the local area which they serve.
