Christmas Day Celebration at Christ Church

Join with the rest of our church family for our amazing Christmas Day celebration. We are gathering as a church family on Swanpool Beach at 10:00am (because we cannot meet in our usual location). Warm refreshments will be served as we arrive. We will hear the Christmas reading, there is going to be an amazing scavenger hunt to find the secret of Christmas and a short interactive talk which will focus our hearts on the birth of our Saviour. There is even the possibility of an exciting special guest joining us from afar… with live music, it is going to be a unique Christmas Day extravaganza like no other!

This event is going to be great fun for the whole family including any guests and friends who might join us. After the short celebration some will want to get home, others might like to enjoy a stroll along the beach or visit one of the cafes that will be open. We can’t wait to see you there!

We anticipate that this event will go ahead in all weathers, however if we do have to cancel because of high winds or heavy rain then we will send an email on Christmas Eve to this email address to let you know. Please note, there will be no service at Church Church on Sunday 1st January. We will be meeting again on Sunday 8th at Archbishop Benson at our usual time.

Coming to Christ Church in 2023

We are really looking forward to the New Year at Christ Church as we continue to grow as a church family and as followers of Jesus. On the 8th of January, we will be launching a new sermon series looking at our church’s vision for 2023. Two weeks later, we will be turning to look at the book of Proverbs together. Equip will be returning the week beginning the 8th January and we are launching a new marriage course later in January. Women’s Breakfasts will be returning as well as our Youth Activities and much more. More information will be coming in our new year email, or church members can look at all the dates in Church Suite.

Mission Partner Support

At Christ Church we support the work of Truro Foodbank and we have recently heard of some real challenges they are facing. Would you please join with many in praying for them. Here is what they have to say…

“On Friday there was an all time record when 102 people were fed in one session. Numbers are increasing at every session. Please give thanks that there is sufficient food to feed the ever-increasing number of people who are turning to the Foodbank for help. There is so much generosity as often over 1 tonne of donations are processed each session.

Please give thanks for the staff and volunteers who have risen to meet this challenge and continue to give excellent, caring and compassionate service.

We face challenges as staff and volunteers are working far longer and harder than should reasonably be expected and are going far beyond the call of duty. They are working in premises that have many shortcomings and in conditions which are challenging from many different aspects. The need for premises that are fit for purpose is acutely urgent. Please pray for new premises which are fit for purpose, in the right location and affordable.”

Churches Together Month of Prayer

From time to time, the churches in Truro have come together specifically to pray for our city, for the advance of the gospel and for one another. We know that if we're going to see what we long to see then we can't afford not to pray. We also know that it's especially powerful when believers from many different backgrounds gather together to pray.

Early next year, there's going to be a city-wide month of prayer from 15th January to 12th February. There will be an in-person launch event on Monday 16th January at the Moresk Centre and a second event to mark the end of the month on 13th February at All Saints Highertown (both starting at 7:30pm).

Weekly Prayer Points

Each week there will be a few things for our church life and family that we can join together in praying for:

1. Give thanks for the very many ways God has blessed our church family in 2023. Give thanks for the life of our church and the ways in which we have been able to serve others. Pray for one another as we look to 2023.

2. Give thanks for the many guests who have joined us at many of our events across the Trinity group of churches over the Christmas period. Please pray that, as the message of Jesus goes out, many would consider the hope that Jesus offers our world.

3. Please pray for the work of Truro Foodbank (our Mission Partner). Pray especially for the increased demand and their need of new premises.
