Confidence Now

Certainty about what will happen in the end always builds confidence along the way. If you are certain it is going to be sunny, you can have the confidence to leave your umbrella at home. If you are certain you will get paid at the end of the month, you can have the confidence to spend money on food and rent in advance. If you are certain that the recipe will make a beautiful cake, you can have the confidence to combine the ingredients and put them in the oven.

This week, as we continue our series, The King and His Kingdom, Jesus is going to give us certainty about his kingdom and certainty about the end. Jesus is going to promise us that God’s word will accomplish amazing things in the world; he will promise us that the kingdom of God will grow and cannot be stopped.

If we have such certainty about the future, how might we be more confident as we live for Jesus now? Come and join us as we explore certainty and confidence in the kingdom of God.

We won’t be able to run a Sunday Youth Group for yr 7 - 9 this Sunday however groups for children continue, refreshments will be served before and after the service and a livestream will be broadcast.

Engage

The Engage activity this week is the Trinity evening together (see information below).

Next week we will break for half term and resume again the following week where we will be looking at the next priority of Jesus in Mark’s account.

Trinity Evening Together - TONIGHT

Please join us tonight as we meet at St Kea Church along with other Trinity Churches for an evening of updates and stories of encouragement from each congregation. There will also be prayers for each congregation and a time of sung worship.

Join us for drinks and puddings from 7pm, with our evening together starting at 7.30pm. We look forward to seeing you then.

If you would still like to donate to Tearfund click here. To find out more about where these donations go to click here

Living with Loss Service

On Sunday 3rd November at 3pm there will be a service for those wishing to remember loved ones. If you would like to add a name to the list to be read out please contact office@stkea.org.uk. Left To Their Own Devices

On Tuesday 12 November, we will be running a video-based session from Care for the Family to help parents address the challenges of the online world that our children inhabit. This will be a great chance to come along explore the impact of the digital world on our children and discuss issues such as screen time, social media alongside the more serious issues of online bullying, grooming and pornography. We’ll be based at St Kea from 7.00-8.30pm during the regular Tuesday Night Youth group session – younger siblings are welcome to attend youth group that evening to allow parents to attend if needed.

October Eco Tip from the Creation Care Team: Using our LOAF

As we celebrate harvest in October, it's a good chance to reflect on how the food we eat can make a difference to God's creation and our neighbours around the world. Trying to follow 'LOAF' principles can make a difference, eating food that is:

Locally Produced: helping community and neighbour

Organically Grown: taking care of the Earth

Animal Friendly: avoiding abuse

Fairly traded: creating social justice

Green Christian have produced a short leaflet explaining more about this approach https://greenchristian.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/Use-Your-LOAF-DL-Leaflet.pdf

Hand Bells Group

The ‘Hand Bells’ group meet each Wednesday morning at St Kea Church hall and would be delighted to welcome any new players who would like to join them. You don’t have to have any experience of playing hand bells, just come along and enjoy making music. For more information please contact Pam Roberts

Weekly Prayer Points

Each week there will be a few things for our church life and church family that we can join in praying for:

1. Father God, thank you for opportunity this season brings to invite friends and family into the church with the different events which are happening. We pray for those who will be coming into the church for the first time, that they may want to find out more about you.

2. Gracious God, we give thanks that people are being referred to Truro Foodbank for help. We pray that the continuing decline in food donations during the year will be reversed and will meet the demand. We thank you all the Harvest donations from churches and schools.

3. We pray for the last women’s breakfast of the year in November. We thank you that women have been able to meet throughout the year to read your word and build relationships together. As we look ahead to next year we pray the planning for 2025 will bring even more women together and grow in their faith. We thank you for the men’s ministry in our church, for the current opportunities and for the possibility of further developing men’s ministry across Truro.
