Vision Sunday - This week

Summer time is now drawing to an end and a new academic year stretches out before us. This Sunday is Vision Sunday when we launch this new year and look ahead. Just think what God might be about to do in your life and in the life of our church over the next 12 months.

This new academic year we are adopting a main theme, a theme that will guide us over the next months. Our theme for the year is MORE.  When Paul writes to the Ephesians he prays an amazing prayer for them. “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.” (Ephesians 3:20-21)

That prayer is going to be our prayer for the year ahead. That God might do more among us than we could possibly imagine and that as He does he might be glorified for ever and ever.

This Sunday we are launching this theme in our our different services. Then after our services we will be gathering together at St Kea Vicarage for lunch together.  This is a great way not only to launch the new year but to catch up with friends you might not have seen over the summer and to meet new friends as well. There will be live music, wonderful food - this is for the whole church family.

This ‘Vision Sunday’ doesn’t finish there! In the evening we are going to gather together for a very special evening of praise at 7:30pm. This is being hosted at All Hallows but the band will be drawn from across our congregations. Come and join us as we praise God together and as we ask God to do MORE than we might ever imagine in the year ahead.

ENABLE Launch Thursday 7th - For Everyone 

ENABLE is our series for all Small Groups this academic year and it is launching next Thursday 7th September, 7:30pm at Kea Church (refreshments served from 7pm). Every member of Kea and Christchurch is invited to join the launch. If you are not currently in a Small Group but would like to know more, do come along as well.

God wants to do something very special in the lives of all his children. He wants to do more than we might possibly think of asking him, more than we might even imagine. This academic year He longs that Christ might dwell in us more fully and transform us more completely. If we were to allow this to happen it would change very much about our lives - from the day to day practical aspects of life, to our relationships with others, our life together, our fears and our concerns, our hope and our joy - they would all be transformed. God is longing to bring about this change starting now, the key question is how can this possibly happen? Seeing this change in our lives is what ENABLE is all about.

On Thursday 7th we will start to introduce the journey ahead - we will see what this change actually looks like in practice and we will start to see how this change can be enabled in us. During the evening Marc (Oversight Minister for all of Trinity Church) will be introducing the series, showing us the steps we are going to take as well as answering questions. The evening will finish before 9pm. So do come and join us as we begin this journey as a church together.

Trinity Evening - 20th September

Once a term we meet together as a benefice for an evening of updates, stories of encouragement from each congregation, and hymns and prayers for each congregation. This term’s Trinity evening will be held at Kea Church so do join us for refreshments from 7pm, with our evening together starting at 7.30pm. We look forward to seeing you then.

Women’s Breakfast

The next Women’s Breakfast will be held at St Kea Church on Saturday 23rd September at 8am. It is a wonderful opportunity to gather together and enjoy a delicious breakfast as well as hear about the different women who followed Jesus.

Autumn gathering of the TDEF

After the celebratory launch of the Diocese Evangelical Fellowship (DEF) back in February the committee have announced the next meeting which will take place on Saturday 30th September. There will be a panel of speakers chosen to inspire us including the include the Rev’d Rob Fowler and our very own Natalie Gavan. Christians from across churches in the Diocese of Truro are invited to join, whether lay or ordained.

Host needed urgently

In order to have our SWYM placement student supporting our ministry with young people in the coming year, we need to find somewhere for her to live. We’d be really grateful for anyone who might consider this, either for the full stretch of September to June or for part of this time. Expenses for food and bills will be covered. Weekly Prayer Points

Each week there will be a few things for our church life and church family that we can join together in praying for:

1. This week we thank God for all the Trinity Churches who will be coming together after the services on Sunday to fellowship with one another.

2. Please pray that a placement will be found soon to support our SWYM worker so that the ministry work for our young people can continue to grow.

3. Let us pray for all our young people and teachers who will be returning to school next week. Please pray that they settle into new schools/classes soon.
