This Sunday - Life Transformed

Join us again this Sunday as we continue in our series ‘The Global Gospel’. We will be thinking this week about how the good news sees ‘Life Transformed’. Personal change is hard won. For those moments when we doubt the power of God to change our own hard hearts, or those around us, we need to be reminded of the remarkable change that God has brought to so many. Saul’s conversion is both dramatic and unlikely. This week we will be encouraged by the God who transforms lives.

Children’s work will continue for under 4’s, primary aged children and secondary aged children (see below for more information about our 11+ group - COMBUST!)

Refreshments will also be served before and after the service as well as Soup! (see below)

This Sunday - Soup Sunday!

Thank you to everyone who came and enjoyed time together in the park after last Sunday’s service. To continue building community and growing our fellowship, after our service this Sunday do stay for Soup and a Roll.

This is a chance for us to continue chatting, building relationships with one another whilst enjoying some yummy food. You don’t need to bring anything - soup and rolls all provided. Everyone is welcome

Small Groups - This Week

This week we come to the final section of ENABLE as we enter this new Summer-Term. Many of us want to live our lives as disciples of Jesus Christ, yet some of us don’t feel like we are growing in our faith. Some us feel busy or tired in our service of Jesus. Some have dreams of things they would love to undertake for Jesus but, maybe because of a lack of confidence or lack of opportunity, they have never been able to realise their dreams.

What is the common factor in each of those situations? It is a need to experience God’s enabling. His wonderful, gentle, yet powerful enabling.

In the first three sections we have considered three different ways God enables us to serve Him. He gifts us each other in the church, to encourage and support. He gives us the gift of prayer, that we can seek God’s work in our lives. Supremely, He gives us the gift of His Holy Spirit, God dwelling in us.

In this week’s session we will be thinking about the ‘fourth’ main enabler - the gift of his word in the Bible. If you would like to join one of our ENABLE groups have a word with Marc Baker (our minister at CC) for more information. It is going to be a great term!

Sunday’s 11+ Group

COMBUST! That is what our group of senior school age pupils that meet on a Sunday morning is now called at Christ Church! 

'Combust! Where everything you know, collides with everything you don't!'

For some years, we had a good number of children but the continuity into an older group did not happen. The Combust! group is small - between 2 and 4 regulars - but last Sunday we had 7. We are praying for growth of the group and for the amazing young people who are founder members!

This term we have started looking at Paul's letter to the Colossians. We have considered our life goals and discussed Paul's - spreading the Good News of Jesus Christ and encouraging Christians to mature in their faith.

While thinking about practical ways all Christians might do this, our list included: joining a church, getting involved in the church, reading the Bible, asking God for understanding of His Word, praying and valuing Christian friends.

Part of our current memory verse is Colossians 3, verse 2. 'Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.'

Mission Work and Wedding Celebrations

Iain Brunt, our leadership assistant in the church office will be getting married to Becky Hancock at Old Kea Church on 11th May. We would like to wish them well as they start their married life together and we pray blessings upon them as they begin this journey.

Iain and Becky have asked us to also pray for the mission work they would like to pursue next year. They have been accepting as candidates by African Inland Mission and have been asked to visit an area of Namibia for 2 weeks in August 2024. Welcome Millie

Millie joined the Dockyard team in January as our Youth and Families Worker for Low Income Communities, as part of the church of England’s general efforts in this area. She works with Sam and Erica thinking strategically about how we can serve and reach families effected by poverty in Truro.  

The Dockyard Community Cafe at Hendra Hall has been going very well, and the team continue to meet new families most weeks. They have got to know quite a few regulars and often have opportunities to share their faith. Plans are in motion to run a two-day festival on the 29th-30th August 2024 to serve the local community at Tregolls School, during which there will be fun gospel presentations and follow up invitations to church. They are also planning day trips throughout August for families who do not have access to transport or lack leisure opportunities.

Please do pray as the Dockyard team continue to build new relationships, share faith and plan for the future. 

Women’s Breakfast - 18th May

Please do join us for our next Trinity Women’s Breakfasts on Saturday 18th May at St Kea Church from 8.30-10am. We’ll be looking at six ways in which God is different from us and exploring together why that is a good thing. Do come along for friendship, teaching and discussion over a delicious breakfast. Pentecost Praise!

Our next Trinity ‘Praise and Worship’ evening will be held at St Kea Church on Sunday 19th May at 7pm. It’s a great opportunity to engage in an extended time of sung worship led by our church bands. Refreshments and cakes will be served from 7pm ready for a 7.30pm start. We’d love to see you there if you can make it.

Weekly Prayer Points

Each week there will be a few things for our church life and church family that we can join together in praying for:

1. Father God help us this week to find joy in the gospel and share the good news of Jesus. Please help us to trust in Your word and not lean on our understanding because we know that Your word never fails.

2. This week we pray for the work of Truro Foodbank. We give thanks that this work continues to be run by volunteers and staff. We ask that people will continue to be generous with their financial donations allowing them to purchase food and that they are able to provide appropriately for their costumers.

3. We pray for St Clement this week and their plans moving forward with St Allen. We pray that would go smoothly always trusting in You.
