This Sunday - New Year in Focus

Last week, we looked back and gave thanks for the ministry of our church in 2022. We saw that the work God is doing in our lives in bringing transformation is truly glorious. This week, we look forward to 2023 and think about the year ahead. What does this transforming ministry actually look like in practice? How can we experience more transformation as a church? As we continue in 2 Corinthians we will start to see some of the answers.

There will be refreshments before and after the service, so do catch up with folk as well as get to know others more.

Sunday Club - New Series

This week, our Sunday Club for school aged children and teenagers starts a new series for the term. They are going to be thinking about Jesus as the King of the whole world. Each week they will be looking at the gospel of Mark and seeing what it means to follow the king. With songs, crafts and games - it is going to be glorious.

This Monday - Launch Night

This Monday 16th January at 7:30pm there is an in-person launch event at the Moresk Centre for the Truro Churches Together month of prayer. From time to time, the churches in Truro have come together specifically to pray for our city, for the advance of the gospel and for one another. We know that if we're going to see what we long to see then we can't afford not to pray. We also know that it's especially powerful when believers from many different backgrounds gather together to pray.

Free parking is available in the city car parks. The music is being led by a band from our church.

This Thursday - Prayer Meeting

At Christ Church we want everything we do to be undergirded with prayer. This Thursday is our monthly prayer meeting as we start the new year. Join us for an encouraging evening. Thursday 19th November at 7:30pm. This event is being held at Alan and Jean’s home. Church Members can find details on ChurchSuite.

Note: There are no EQUIP small groups the week of the prayer meeting as we want to encourage everyone to attend.

Next Thursday - EQUIP Central

Next week there are no EQUIP small groups as EQUIP comes together to launch the new term at EQUIP Central. Thursday 26th January at 7:30pm. This evening is hosted at Starbucks in Truro. This meeting is for everyone in the church family, even if you have not been involved in EQUIP so far.

During this evening Marc (our leader at Christ Church) will be recasting the over-all vision for EQUIP. He will also be drawing together some of the strands from the first two EQUIP series and trying to help us see the main lessons. There will be time for personal reflection and a chance for us each to identify the main things that God has been doing in us. There will be also be time for asking questions and talking together, the evening will end as we launch section three of EQUIP - What is the church?

It is going to be a great evening - come expecting to have a wonderful time as God works amongst us. Free parking is available in the city centre car parks.

New Administrator

In order to spend more time with her family, Sue Sharp has decided to step down from her role as Church Administrator in our church office.

We will be advertising the part time position (15 hours) soon. If you are interested, or know anyone who may be, please do contact either Victoria Cooper, our Church Manager, or Sian Goddard, our HR Lead.

Aside from this paid role, we would be interested to hear from anyone who would like to volunteer within the Church Office. Roles are varied, from photocopying and simple tasks to more complex things like helping organise events.

Tearfund Big Quiz Night

We are thrilled to be taking part in Tearfund’s Big Quiz Night on Saturday 28 January. This even is for the whole Trinity family and is being hosted at St Kea Church, 7pm.

It’s exciting to gather people together again for this fun quiz. Being part of Tearfund’s Big Quiz Night also means we can do our part in helping communities and churches worldwide end extreme poverty and injustice. The quiz will have questions suitable for all ages and teams, large or small. Quizmasters include actress Tamsin Greig and England rugby star Billy Vunipola.

Money raised will be used to provide people with the tools to help lift themselves out of poverty. Please sign up below, whether or not you have a team in mind.

Everything We Do Is Funded By You!

One of our ministries at Christ Church is reach out to some of the most challenged folk in our communities through Christians Against Poverty. This Christmas time, we were able to host a Christmas Party for many of our clients and others. Natalie Gavan, CAP Manager writes - Together with your donations and the kindness of others, we raised over £2500 plus hundreds of pounds of donated hampers. The Christmas party was a huge success - thanks be to God and of course our wonderful team!

Weekly Prayer Points

Each week there will be a few things for our church life and family that we can join together in praying for:

1. Give thanks for all that God did in the life of our church in 2022. Thank God that, through our ministry, we get to be part of God’s work of giving life and righteousness to others. Pray for our ministry in 2023 as we think this Sunday about what gospel ministry looks like in the local church.

2. Give thanks for our friends as St Allen Church. Pray for their witness to Jesus in the local community of Zelah. Also continue to pray for the appointment of a local minster to their church.

3. Please pray for our prayerfulness in 2023 as a church family. Pray for the month of prayer starting on Monday and our Christ Church prayer meeting on Thursday.
