This Sunday - Wisdom with Desire

We all know about ‘learning the hard way’ - lessons we learn through the mistakes we make in life. Well the book of Proverbs gives us the opportunity to learn life lessons the easy way, by following the wisdom that flows from God’s word. This week we turn to what Proverbs says about desire. In life we all desire many different things; how should we respond to those desires? It looks to be a wonderful week, so join us this Sunday as we continuing learning how to grow in wisdom together.

This week our children’s groups continue, but remember next Sunday is Mothering Sunday and we will be gathering for our All-Age Service.

This Week - EQUIP Continues

Last we we continued our series thinking about the church. Having considered how the church is built we learnt about the part we have to play in Jesus’ great building project.

This week we will be thinking about all the things that are needed to make this great building project possible.

Giving ‘In Focus’

Last Sunday was our annual Giving Sunday and together we thought about being wise with our money as we looked at the book of Proverbs:

• Riches are a blessing from the LORD, we should be thankful for them.

• Riches do not last, don’t put your trust in them.

• Riches are not the most important thing, don’t overvalue them.

• Riches are given to be given, don’t hold tight to them.

If you were able to join us you will have heard about all the things that our church has been able to do over the last year, including helping many many people locally and across the world. You would have also heard that at the moment our church is not sustainable. We asked everyone who is a regular member of Christ Church to give towards our work and we asked exiting members if they might consider increasing their regular giving by 10%.

Part Time Administrator

Following our recent recruitment and interview process, we are delighted to announce that Debra Stanhope will be joining the staff team as church our new part time church administrator from Monday 17th April. She takes over from Sue Sharp who has served us wonderfully in the office, but who has decided to step back from her paid role.

Debra will be working part time Monday to Thursday and the office hours will continue to be 9.30-12.30. Debra has many years experience as a teacher and has felt called to his change of role. She brings with her a wealth of knowledge and skills which will be a great asset to the team. Do pray for Debs as she makes this transition.

If you have any office related queries leading up to 17th April, please direct these to Vicki Cooper but do bear in mind that she is covering two roles at present and therefore time is at a premium.

Trinity Evening

Later this month we are hosting our next Trinity fellowship, information and prayer evening. This is a chance to meet with other members of our Trinity family over simple refreshments. It is also a chance for the whole church to find out how the developments are progressing, to ask questions and we will be holding a short service of reflection and prayer towards the end of the evening.

The event is being hosted at Kenwyn Parish Church on 22nd March. 7pm for refreshments. Do make a note in your diaries now and come and join us.

Lent Course

This new Lent Course is designed for anyone across Trinity who is not in an Equip Group or Small Group. Four evenings in March, this is a chance to meet with others and dig into God’s word together. For more information contact Will Harwood (Minister at St John’s) using the email link below.

Weekly Prayer Points

Each week there will be a few things for our church life and family that we can join together in praying for:

1. Give thanks for all that the Lord has blessed us with over the last year. Particularly that our financial needs have been met. Pray that He will continue to bless us as we face the challenge of increased costs across our churches.

2. Give thanks for all that is happening at St John’s. Pray for Will as he leads this congregation and that they would be receptive and encouraging as he preaches God’s word faithfully.

3. Pray for Tearfund and the work they do helping the poorest lift themselves out of poverty. Showing Jesus’ love in the most practical way, pray that many will be led to faith through this ministry.
