Christmas Eve Services

This Sunday morning we will be meeting for a fun all age service in anticipation of the birth of Jesus. We’ll think about how we might ‘prepare the way’ for Jesus. There will be carols and songs as well as refreshments both before and after the service. A livestream will be broadcast.

Crib Service

On Sunday afternoon at 3pm get your costumes at the ready as we be retelling the very first Christmas. There will be well known carols to sing along to as well as refreshments and mince pies served afterwards. This is a great service to invite friends and family to with children, so do join us if you can.

Christmas Day

On Christmas Morning we will be gathering for a Christmas Day All Age Service at 10am. This is a great opportunity to invite family and friends along to. There wont be refreshments before or after the service however there will be the chance to stay to share Communion shorty after the all age service. Our livestream will also be broadcast from 9.50am.

Please do come and join us to celebrate the birth of Jesus.

Carols and Christmas Day

Join us at Old Kea Church for our traditional Christmas services. We look forward to welcoming you and your family there.

Help needed at Crib Service on the afternoon of Christmas Eve

Could you come and click through the song words and some slides? The presentation would be set up in advance. It would be a good opportunity to give serving in this way a go as it is a simple service and it would also be a great help. The short service starts at 3pm and it would be great if you could arrive at 2.30pm to talk through what is needed. Please contact Ben or Hugh.

Church Office Leadership Assistant role (maternity cover)

With Vicki heading off on maternity leave in February, we are seeking a new member of staff for the church office. 

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with good organisational and administrative skills to join our vibrant church and dynamic staff team.

The successful candidate will be able to:

• Provide consistent support to the Oversight Minister of St Kea, particularly in his role as Rural Dean (RD), support other ministers in the congregations and support the local missions of St Kea Church congregations

• Work alongside the St Kea Church Administrator to implement the mission vision within St Kea Church and across Truro

• Assist the Oversight Minister and ministers of St Kea and other CofE churches in Truro in developing communications, systems and events  

This role is part time maternity cover, 8 hours across 2 or 3 days per week based in Kea Church Office.

Host needed for an intern

At St Kea we are keen to offer placements to those who are considering future set apart gospel ministry. We are in conversation with someone who might want to do an internship witth us in the 23/24 academic year and we are keen to gauge whether or not someone might consider hosting him. It would be a great help to both us and him if this might be a possibility. Please do get in touch with Hugh if you would like more details on the anticipated arrangements/finances.

CAP and Lantern Christmas

Natalie Gavan our CAP Manager writes…

I just wanted to express our gratitude for all you have done to make this years Christmas event so amazing. We have reached more people than ever this year and it's thanks to your kindness and generosity that it is possible.

In the end your donations meant that we provided 82 Hampers and able to to provide vouchers and the most amazing party, where we saw a number of people taking another step towards Jesus.

Your generous donations raised £1,345 plus hampers.  We also received other generous donations from organisations and churches - it truly has been a year of abundance.

Because of your support -  this is the impact on the lives you are touching. One client writes: I just wanted to say thank you to the team for the wonderful hamper. It's will be so welcome at Christmas. Thank you for your support.

It was such a blessing delivering the hampers to homes and seeing the expression on the children's faces as they received the hamper at their doors. It was smiles all round at the party with delicious and abundant food, everyone went home with a wonderful hamper and vouchers.

It was special to encounter the Holy Spirit as he touched and softened people's hearts, most of the time we will never know what God is doing, but one lady sent me a message to say.

To all who provided the hampers and provision. As a mum with a young family I sometimes struggle and Christmas can feel like a really difficult time, receiving the hamper and Argos Voucher was so heart warming and brought absolute joy. To all of those who organised the hampers/vouchers, thank you so very much! Thank you for bringing happiness at Christmas time when so many of us struggle with it in one way or another. Thank you for taking the time to be of assistance for those around you, it means everything to us as a family. Thank you for letting me be part of your Lanterns church family, your kindness and support will stay with me. God bless you all , I really felt God presence at the event and felt he was saying stay close to him.

Another client writes: When I used to go through turbulent times it really impacted me, I remember a time when I tried to make things better in my own strength, but I noticed the more I shared Jesus my soul was coming back to life, it feels like shedding my old skin  and my soul coming to life. I know that if I follow His direction I will be alright. I feel He is pushing me right now, He is giving me glimpses of a really bright future and I feel now is the time, no more trying to fill that hole within me with other things, I am going to hang on to God. I feel overwhelming excitement that God is calling me to stay close to him and eliminate anything that is negative, just shed and bad stuff and live in the light. I never encountered God so powerfully.

Weekly Prayer Points

Each week there will be a few things for our church life and church family that we can join together in praying for:

1. Father God we give thanks for all your blessings that can never be taken away, regardless of our circumstances. Thank you that we are adopted and forgiven, thank you for your grace. Please give us the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that we may know You better. Please open our eyes and help us to see and know the hope to which you have called us, the riches of your glorious inheritance for us as your holy people.

2. This Christmas we pray for all the families who support Mercy Rescue Trust. We pray for Jedidah and her team as they continue to foster young babies and raise funds to keep up this valuable work.

3. Father God we pray for the congregation at Christ Church during this Christmas time and for the gospel outreach opportunities that they have across Truro and surrounding areas.
