This Sunday - Total Unity

This week we continue our new series - In Christ. If last week we saw God’s love for us individually, this week we see what God has done for us as a church. In Jesus we have been given MORE than we could ever imagine. Every barrier and division between us has been broken down and we have been created into a new united people in Christ.

But… and here is the rub - if that is true why does the church so often seem divided? Come and explore what is means to be a new united people where “God lives by His Spirit” Ephesians 2:22. This week is going to be significant for our church family as we grow together in love.

Children’s groups continue and refreshments will be served both before and after the service.

This Week - ENABLE

Following last week’s launch of ENABLE at our central meeting, this week we are meeting in Small Groups for the first time. This session is a chance to catch up after the summer, welcome new members and to pray for one another. We will be thinking about how we can be enabled in our discipleship by being devoted to one another.

Most people should now have heard about the group that are a part of, unless you asked to be part of a daytime group. If you have any questions about your group contact Marc using the email below.

All the material for ENABLE is published on the St Kea website which you can also reach using the link below. Next week is our united Trinity Evening and ENABLE Small Groups will continue the week after.

This term’s Trinity evening will be held at Kea Church on Wednesday 20th September. Join us for refreshments from 7pm, with our evening together starting at 7.30pm. We look forward to seeing you then.

 LATEST UPDATE

Sponsored Children

“Compassion UK loves to celebrate the real and lasting difference in the lives of the children supported through our partnerships. At events hosted by our partners, we provide updates on the incredible difference made in children’s lives through the partnership. This includes celebrating the number of children being released from poverty in Jesus’ name.” Compassion UK

As part of our Deanery activity focused on Global Mission, we have asked Mike Nicholls of Compassion UK to come to our 18th October meeting to talk about the work of the charity. What is clear from a number of conversations is that a large number of individuals personally sponsor or support individual children already. We would like to build a clearer picture across the Deanery of the existing engagement with Compassion UK.

If you’d like Compassion UK to link your sponsored child/ren to Powder Deanery and your church, please confirm by either following the link in the QR code above  or by providing your 1)name, 2)home postcode and 3)church to Jonny Alford at jonnya1965@gmail.com who will pass the information to Mike Nicholls.

Compassion UK will process the information confidentially to provide a picture of the engagement across the Deanery for the 18th October.

Volunteers and Donations Needed

After nearly a year of running a pop-up cafe with Truro Foodbank on Friday mornings, Dockyard are extending their provision to Mondays at Hendra Hall starting this October. Many who are vulnerably housed or on low incomes have found our cafe a safe space for building friendships, encouraging one another, and exploring faith. Hendra Hall offers access for families and those with mobility issues and will enable Dockyard to grow the work they are currently able to offer.

The Dockyard Lounge at Hendra will run 10-2 every Monday for coffee and cake, lunch, a swap shop of toys, books and clothes, and toddler activities. They are looking for volunteers to sign up to weekly or monthly commitments of 3 or more hours: serving food and drink, welcoming and chatting with customers, overseeing toddler activities and interacting with families. They are also looking for donation of items and funds to help us set up including kitchenware, soft furnishings, toys and books.

For more information about how to donate or volunteer, please go to their website here or contact Erica on 07872166212. Many thanks from The Dockyard Team.

Weekly Prayer Points

Each week there will be a few things for our church life and church family that we can join together in praying for:

1. Lord we ask you to bless Marc as he leads our church each week. Please pray for wisdom and boldness as he speaks about your precious word.

2. Praise God that He has led the Wallace Family to Datchet Baptist Church and to an exciting role as their part-time minister. Pray for them as they settle into church and begin to lead. Pray that they might deepen the church in Christ, draw the church closer in community and broaden the church in outreach.

3. Finally let us pray for St John’s church at the start of the new term. Please pray for the plans they have to start homes groups and for their homeless service Jericho Road restarting. Thank you God for their children’s group ‘Messy Church’ which starts again on Sunday 17th September and for all the volunteers who help with this.
