This Sunday - CAP Sunday

Following on from our celebration of Harvest last weekend, we move to considering the opportunities we have to help those in need via our partnership with Christians Against Poverty.

As a church we are delighted to support Natalie Gavan and Steve Worts in part-time roles offering help to those struggling with debt, and rejoice to see members of our church family serving week by week. There are two main aspects of this work - debt advice and CAP Lanterns. Come along this Sunday to hear more about CAP, including some wonderful testimony, and to pray for this year round work. During the service there will be Sunday Club as normal, but the youth will stay in the service and be given some materials to help them reflect, with an opportunity for some brief discussion afterwards over doughnuts. Tea and Coffee will be served before and after the service.

Thank you so much to all who donated food and essential items last Sunday. From 1st April to 30th September: 2380 people have been fed, 34.5 tonnes of food has come in and 34 tonnes of food has gone out (almost exactly the same as the whole financial year from 2018/2019). It is great that there has been a good response to vastly increased need, please pray that this continues.

Women’s Breakfast - tomorrow (15th)

At times, the circumstances of life leave us feeling shaken to the core; life can be uncertain and those around us sometimes hurt us the most. Whether you are currently in circumstances that build you up, or battling those that threaten to knock you over, you are very welcome at our Women’s Breakfasts. This month, we are looking at Psalm 62 and seeing how the writer found rest and refuge in God when he was threatened and vulnerable. Through our time together, we will be encouraging each other to find that same rest for our souls!

All dietary requirements catered for; please make a note when booking.

We will be welcoming women from across Trinity Church Truro and it will be a great opportunity to meet our sisters in Christ from across the city.

Old Kea Feast - this Sunday (16th) 3:30pm

There will be a Holy Communion service and the church will be decorated especially for harvest. Any harvest gifts received will be donated to St Petrocs. Refreshments will be served after the service. All are welcome

Fellowship evening - 19th October

In our new pattern, we will have a termly Trinity wide evening (the first of which was 21st September) and then in the months in between (excluding December and August) we will have a similar evening just for our congregation. Sharing fellowship and praying together will be vital as we look to the future. These evenings will take place on Wednesdays from 7-9pm and there will be some sort of provision to join from home. The evening will include: fellowship, dessert and refreshments, church news, prayer and praise. Please come join us. You can let us know that you are coming below (which would help with our catering). If anyone would like to offer to make a simple pudding/cake then we’d be delighted.

Funeral for Malcolm Dunford

Malcolm Dunford, aged 89, passed away peacefully at home on October 4th. He had been a member of Kea Church since 1979 and particularly loved the services at Old Kea when he was able to attend them. All are welcome to attend the funeral at Truro Crematorium on 24 October at 12.30.pm

Dockyard evening - 11th November

Sam and Erica Payne from Christ Church are launching a new initiative called The Dockyard Collective - creating safe spaces for people to rebuild in tough times. They are hosting a evening on the 11th November to raise money for a small pilot project in Truro this autumn. The night will be a celebration of Cornwall's finest with a five course tasting menu, Cornish music, and a Cornish Christmas market. Weekly Prayer Points

This week’s prayer points:

1. Please pray for the work of CAP, both locally and nationally. As an organisation they have opportunity to draw alongside people in crisis and give them hope. Please pray for transfomed lives as people meet Jesus.

2. Please pray for Christchurch (formerly St Kea Truro) as they continue to reach out to those in the vicinity of Archbishop Benson School. A particular opportunity coming up will be their Halloween Party on the 31st October.

3. Please pray for the work of Tearfund. They write: More than 36 million people have been affected by the worst droughts East Africa has seen in forty years. Of those, 22 million do not have enough food to survive. Local conflict, combined with skyrocketing food prices caused by the invasion of Ukraine, is making the situation even worse. Lives are at risk. Children are especially vulnerable.
