St Kea Church

This Sunday

Our series in the book of Acts continues this Sunday as we continue hearing what happened on the Day of Pentecost. After hearing how the apostle Peter challenged his hearers to recognise Jesus and Christ and Lord, this week we see how they responded.

Our groups for children and young people continue. Refreshments will be served both before and after the service and a livestream will be broadcast.

Trinity Church Evening

We are looking forward to our upcoming fellowship evening together, being held at St John’s church on Wednesday 28th June. Please do arrive from 7pm for refreshments, and we shall be starting together at 7.30pm.

Various opportunities to get involved!

As we are getting closer to becoming one church as Trinity, we would love to keep in touch with all the congregations across Trinity and the ministry we are engaged in together. We hope we can continue to pray for one another and share news of the Lord’s work amongst us.

This week we are focusing on the work of Trinity Youth and how you can get involved with this ministry.

1) This coming Saturday morning, 10th June, there is the first of two Trinity Youth ‘stakeholder’ meetings for anyone interested to hear an update, plans for the future and to feed into shaping these. You can sign up for this via Churchsuite, 8-9.30am in the St Kea church hall with a simple breakfast. The second of these meetings will be on the 7th July 7.30-9pm at Kenwyn.

2) Help with transport for SPREE SW 23rd - 25th June. We have the delightful problem of a large group of young people signed up for SPREE SW and don’t have enough capacity in the minibus and cars that are already driving up and back. You could help by - suggesting another minibus we could borrow, lending us a large car (ideally 7 seats), or planning a weekend break yourself that would enable you to drive up past Exeter on Friday 23rd and back around lunchtime on the 25th.

3) As part of our ministry on the Trelander Estate, we have an exciting opportunity to run some holiday club activities for children, young people and their families over the summer. This will be taking place in the mornings between Tuesday 29th August - Friday 1st September. We’d love to gather a team of people who could help, in various ways, to deliver this and it would be great to know who might be available asap.

For any of the above opportunites, please get in touch with Sam using the button below:

Churches count on nature - This Saturday

We are taking part in Churches count on nature which is part of Love your burial ground week (3rd-10th June) and run by Caring for God's acre, A Rocha and some other groups and it would be great to count the different plants and wildlife we see. Please come and join us in our lovely churchyards.

Kea Summer Fete - Volunteers Needed!

Kea Summer Fete is next Saturday 17th June 12-3pm at Kea School and as always Kea Church will be running the cake and refreshments stall as well as the toy/book/plant stall.

Volunteers needed - We would really love some volunteers to help with refreshments on the day. If this is something you can do please get in touch with Sian Goddard (details on Churchsuite)

We also need some cakes and traybakes for the stall, so if you or someone you know loves baking and could provide us with some delicious bakes please can you drop them off in the church hall from Friday 16th June or bring them on the day.

Thank you for all the donations that have been dropped off to the Church hall so far. There is still time to donate any good quality toys/books leading up to the event next week. If you are very kindly planning to contribute plants then please do let us know asap.

The fete is a wonderful opportunity to be part of the local community and to engage with the school parents. Some of the money raised at the event is donated towards our mission partners so please do come along and support this fantastic event.

Breakfast - Next Sunday - 18th June

Please join us before the service next Sunday 18th June at 10am where there will be a continental breakfast served. This will be a great opportunity to fellowship together, as well as enjoy a delicious breakfast.

Baptism Sunday

On the 9th July, in our Sunday morning service, we hope to have both some Baptisms and affirmation of Baptismal vows. If you haven’t yet been baptised, or would like to publicly affirm the vows that were made on your behalf as an infant then please consider getting in touch to chat further. This is an opportunity for people of all ages. It would be useful to know by June 18th if you are considering this.

Weekly Prayer Points

Each week there will be a few things for our church life and church family that we can join together in praying for:

1. This week we pray for our young people who are still in the midst of exams and assessments and for young people generally that they would have the opportuity to put their trust in Jesus and know relationship with Him.

2. We give thanks for St Clements Church, praying for their witness in the surrounding area, for the support they offer to those who are bereaved and for all who lead and serve in the church family.

3. ‘The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it; for he founded it on the seas and established it on the waters.’ (Psalm 24:1-3) We are in a time of climate crisis. As a result, more people are going hungry, extreme weather events are more frequent and severe, and communities are being displaced. Please pray for people who are being pushed back into poverty because of this and for measures to be taken to reverse the damage to God’s creation.
