New Series Continued - Children Of Light

Images of darkness and light are very powerful in our culture. Darkness speaks of danger, ignorance, and fear, no one wants to be left in the dark. 

As we journey further into the Book of Ephesians, we find ourselves continuing to think about God’s powerful call to personal transformation. We have been told that God has taken us out of the dark and placed us in the light, but what does it now look like to live as children of the light. 

This week we are going to ask that very practical question and we are going to be given a stark reminder of the life we’ve left behind and the behaviours that have no place in our lives as God’s children. Our actions and choices should reflect the light of our Saviour. 

So join us this Sunday as we reflect on how far we’ve come and the path that still lies ahead. Let’s together embrace the light of Christ and shine it brightly in our lives and communities. 

Refreshments will be served before and after the service, groups for children and young people restart and prayer ministry will be available after the service.

Bring and Share - Sunday 9th June

After the service this Sunday we would love you to stay and join with us in a ‘Bring and Share Lunch’

It is a wonderful opportunity to build relationships spend time together. We’d be very grateful if you are able to bring something that can be shared with the church family, doesn’t need to be elaborate or substantial. Drinks, plates and cutlery will be provided. In conjuction to the Creation Care team we would like to commend the ‘LOAF principles’ and thought that it might be an opportunity to try using them at this lunch. The acronym stands for ‘ Locally produced, Organically grown, Animal friendly or Fairly traded. More informaton is available online.

Small Groups - The Sabbath

So far in ENABLE we have thought about the four central God given enablers: the Holy Spirit, God’s word, prayer and one another (the church). They summarise the heart of how God is working in the world... God transforms us and enables us for his mission as we prayerfully proclaim God’s word, in the power of the Spirit, to one another.

This is where the weight of the Bible is - so it has been the focus of ENABLE so far. But in the Bible we see that there are other gifts that God gives us to enable us as disciples. We thought about sleep in our last session and in this week’s session we are going to think about the Sabbath.

Count On Nature - This Saturday

St Kea Churchyard is taking part in Love your burial ground week/Churches Count on Nature that runs from 8-16th June. 

This Saturday between 10am -12pm we will be exploring the different areas of the Churchyard particularly looking at the plants, birds, insects etc. and making a record of what we see. 

Please come and enjoy our lovely churchyard which is a wonderful place to explore whether you are a keen naturalist or just enjoy looking at the birds and flowers. For safety, please wear suitable sturdy shoes.

Donations & Volunteers Needed

Kea Summer Fete will be held this year on Saturday 15th June from 12-3pm on Kea School field and we would love members of our Church family to help with various things on the day…

Volunteers needed - We would really love some volunteers to help serve refreshments on the day. If this is something you can do please get in touch with Sian Goddard (details on Churchsuite)

We also need some cakes and traybakes for the stall, so if you or someone you know loves baking and could provide us with some delicious bakes please can you drop them off in the church hall from Friday 14th June or bring them on the day.

We are also looking for any good quality toys/books to sell, so if you can donate anything towards this stall please bring to the church hall leading up to the event.

Lastly we will be selling plants so if you would like to contribute to this stall do let us know asap.

The fete is a wonderful opportunity to be part of the local community and to engage with the school families. Some of the money raised at the event is donated towards our mission partners so please do save this date in your diary and come along to support this fantastic event.

Trinity Camping Weekend - Final Call

Favourite Hymns At Old Kea

On Sunday 16th June at 3.30pm Rev Chris Parsons will be leading the ‘Favourite Hymns’ service at Old Kea. It’s a wonderful opportunity to sing together and enjoy this wonderful space, so do join us if you can.

Tuesday Night Youth - Summer Party

On Tuesday 18th June from 6-8pm our TNY group will be meeting to have an evening of fun and games at Kea Church. This event is also open to year 5 children as well as any others who have not been to youth group before. It’s a great opportunity to try this group out, we’d love to see you there. Trinity Evening - 19th June - St John’s Church

Once a term we meet together for an evening of updates from each congregation, stories of encouragement and hymns and prayers. This term we will be meeting at St John’s Church in Truro from 7pm for refreshments, with our evening formally starting at 7.30pm. It is a wonderful evening to come together as Trinity Church - we look forward to seeing you all then.

Save The Date - One Church

In September we will be joining together with the other Trinity Churches for a wonderful day of teaching, worship, children’s work and fellowship, so please keep Saturday 7th September free for this event. More Information to follow.

Weekly Prayer Points

Each week there will be a few things for our church life and church family that we can join in praying for:

1. Father God help us this week to love one another, especially in the way we speak. Help us to be transformed into the people you want us to be.

2. Please pray for the work of Barnabas Aid for God’s guidance in their “Opportunity Africa” initiative. We pray that this can support Christian communities in Africa to become more resilient as natural disasters, weather extremes and persecution pose increasing challenges.

3. Gracious Lord, we pray for churches of St Clement and St Allen as they continue to discern the future in partnership with one another. We pray for your wisdom in how they might best serve their local communities and continue a much needed Christian witness.
