This Sunday - New Series

This Sunday (8th January) we are back with a new series for the New Year. ‘New Year in Focus’ will be looking back and giving thanks for everything God did amongst us in 2022, as well as looking forward to everything the Lord is calling us into in 2023. This short series will set the direction for the year ahead in our church family.

Also, starting again this week are our Sunday Club groups for school-aged children and our creche for pre-school aged children. Refreshments will be served both before and after our gathering. So do come and join us this Sunday as we give thanks for all God’s blessings and look ahead to 2023 together.

EQUIP - Returns Next Week

Next week sees the return of our EQUIP Small Groups. Following our service this Sunday, next week EQUIP group will meet after their Christmas break. This first session of the new year will be drawing together the main lessons from our look at Romans 1-4 where we have been asking the question ‘what is a Christian?’ In this session we will also have a chance to catch up after the Christmas Break, share our news and pray for one another.

Explore 2023

We know that, over the Christmas period, a number of folk have been exploring the Christian faith for themselves. Some have been guests and visitors to our our services, others are members of our church family who are not sure about the claims of Jesus. In 2023 we want to give folk in that situation a chance to ask questions and find out more. We are arranging bespoke sessions for individuals and small groups, at a time to suit.

If that is you, or you know someone who would like to explore, contact the church office or Marc (our church leader) and we can work out what would work best for you.

Marriage Course - Beginning Soon

Each year we run a short three week course for couples who are getting married at our church that following year. Whilst this course is primarily for people who are engaged, it can be a great help to folk who are already married. The sessions take place with a meal, the content is delivered from the front and there are lots of opportunities for you to talk in private with your partner. It can be a great way for any married couple to think about their relationship at the start of the year.

This year’s course begins on Tuesday 24th January at 7:30pm and runs for three sessions. For more information about joining the course contact the church office or have a conversation with Marc or Sheryl Baker who run the course together.

Coming to Christ Church in 2023

We are really looking forward to the New Year at Christ Church as we continue to grow as a church family and as followers of Jesus. There will be more information about many of our upcoming activities in this weekly email over the next few weeks.

Month of Prayer and Fasting

From time to time, the churches in Truro have come together specifically to pray for our city, for the advance of the gospel and for one another. We know that if we're going to see what we long to see then we can't afford not to pray. We also know that it's especially powerful when believers from many different backgrounds gather together to pray.

Starting soon, there's going to be a city-wide month of prayer and fasting from 15th January to 12th February. There will be an in-person launch event on Monday 16th January at the Moresk Centre and a second event to mark the end of the month on 13th February at All Saints Highertown (both starting at 7:30pm).

Weekly Prayer Points

Each week there will be a few things for our church life and family that we can join together in praying for:

1. We want to start the year by giving thanks to God for the many blessing He give us in 2022. Maybe take a moment to list some of the things that God gave you as an individual and give thanks for all he has given to our church family.

2. As we start the new year, please do pray for our church family. Pray for our work amongst children and young people, pray for EQUIP and our Sunday meetings. Pray for our work amongst some of the poorest in our communities. Pray for the growth of our church in the year ahead.

3. Pray for the new Trinity Truro Benefice as we begin to work together this year. Pray that 2023 will bring great togetherness and unity in the gospel for all our churches.
