Marriage - This Week At Kea

Have you ever received an amazing gift? Something beyond the usual—a gift that left you amazed? Take a moment to think about it.  

Truthfully, some of us aren’t naturally ‘big gift’ extravagant people. When others do something extravagant for us, we can feel unsure how to react. But here’s the challenge: Jesus is all about extravagance. He turned water into gallons of wine at a party, fed thousands when they were hungry, and reached out to those considered unclean, making them clean. Ultimately, He gives us everything, even His very life, His death. As Jesus said, ‘The greatest love is to lay down your life for your friends.’ That’s the biggest gift anyone can give. 

Now, here’s the twist. The challenge for those of us who are not extravagant by nature is not just in receiving Jesus’ love ourselves: Jesus’ love is also the pattern for how we are to live. This is how we’re supposed to treat each other in the church and within families. Specifically, it is the picture of how husbands are called to love their wives—extravagantly, just as Christ loved the church. 

This Sunday, as we continue our series in the book of Ephesians, we’re diving into relationships. Our focus this week is on marriage. But as we explore marriage, we’re actually learning about Jesus’ relationship with us—the church, His bride. God’s Word says the picture of marriage is a picture of Jesus and His church, and that is a profound mystery (Ephesians 5:32). 

So join us as we think about marriage and discover what it means for all of us to be Christ’s bride. 

Two Years Later

And now the end is near... For some of us this series has taken us on a journey that has lasted over two years. In year one ‘EQUIP’ we thought about the amazing, daring, demanding and exhilarating things God is asking us to do, serving him completely with the whole of our lives. One day Jesus will return or will call us home, so we considered what it would look like to give our time, gifts, money and energy completely to serving God in audacious ways. If at the end of the first year we were daunted by the task ahead, year two ‘ENABLE’ has helped us consider the different ways in which God has equipped us to complete his mission: the wonderful gifts of the Holy Spirit, God’s word, prayer and one another (the church).

Now, over the next three weeks in our small groups, we are going to draw our thoughts together. It starts this week by thinking about how we might measure success - if we can measure success at all. What would it look like if we took the ‘enablers’ that God has provided and set out to live lives fully given over to his service? We are going to see that success is not measured in our growing reputations, nor even in the results we achieve - but in knowing joy that is found in receiving the grace of God.

SPREE Weekend

Last weekend nineteen young people and four leaders from across Trinity travelled up to SPREE SW (near Exeter) for a very enjoyable weekend with over 2000 other people. This year's theme was 'The Way, Truth & Life'. Over four sessions a variety of speakers unpacked what it means to follow Jesus. There was some challenging teaching from the Bible and several very powerful testimonies. Some of the young people also attended seminars covering the Old Testament, Prayer and Mental Health. The activity programme included a huge range of options with sport, adventure pursuits, inflatables, fairground rides, crafts and an arcade. A big thank you to everyone who was praying for us before and during the weekend.

Churchyard Gardening - This Saturday

Please join us this Saturday from 9am-12pm where we will meeting to look after our beautiful Churchyard - No gardening experience needed. Please wear sturdy footwear and bring gardening gloves and pruning equipment if you have them.

Women’s Breakfast - 6th July

Our next Trinity Women’s Breakfast will be on Saturday July 6th 8.30-10am at St Kea Church and we would love for women from across our churches to join us.

Many of the songs we sing in church remind us of how we can put our trust in God our sure foundation, our rock when all other ground is sinking sand. Great is his faithfulness because there is no shadow of turning with him. And that is our focus as we meet this July, where (after a delicious and relaxed breakfast) we’ll be looking together at what the Bible has to say about God’s dependability. We will be discussing and hearing personal testimony of how that reassures us and how it challenges us.

It’s a very friendly and accessible event and a great opportunity for practical encouragement through discussion in a way that isn’t possible on a Sunday morning. One Church - Saturday 7th September

Don’t forget to sign up for our ‘One Church’ event happening on Saturday 7th September where we will be coming together with all of the Trinity Churches for a day of teaching, fellowship and fun. The theme for the day will focus on God’s great plan to unite us together in Jesus.

The day will begin at Kea Church at 10am where we will have a time of praise and worship. This will then be followed by two sessions in the main church building led by our guest speaker for the day Rupert Shelley. After many years in ordained youth ministry, Rupert now works for the global Anglican mission organisation BCMS Crosslinks. He will be travelling down to join us from Newbury, where he serves in a multi-parish benefice. Rupert will be helping us to think about 'where all history is heading' as we look at the overarching story of the Bible

Whilst this these sessions are happening there will be activities for children of all ages from 0-16 in the church hall.

After the morning talks and activities have finished we will all head over to the Vicarage at 1pm for an afternoon garden party. There will be food, music, games and most importantly ice-cream!

It is going to be a great event to come together as ‘One Church’ so do sign up using the button below. There is voluntary contribution forwards the food (which will be a BBQ and Salad). All you need to bring on the day is something to sit on, your plate and some cutlery.

Weekly Prayer Points

Each week there will be a few things for our church life and church family that we can join in praying for:

1. Sovereign Lord please help us to be transformed by your holy spirit living in us, that we can live a life worthy of you and which glorifies our Father in heaven.

2. Praise God for the work of Tearfund. Thank you that they are able to train local churches to identify the resources they already have so that they can develop lasting solution to the problem of poverty. Thank you God that this is transforming communities building a future filled with hope and opportunity.

3. This week we pray for St John’s Church. Will Harwood writes:

‘Praise God for the great opportunity to engage with newcomers and new families at St John’s - numbers are modest but we usually have visitors and new people. Praise God for the consistent attendance of a number of children and young people to Sunday Club and Messy Church each month. Praise God for the continued good opportunities with the CU at Truro High School and for the extensive input at Archbishop Benson Primary - including assemblies and termly communion services. Praise God for the encouragement of the Trinity project getting underway and for how keen and supportive St John’s are to be involved

Will asks us to pray for energy and steadfastness in a tiring role for him and Naomi with lots of sowing and not a lot of reaping. He also asks for patience as he preaches the gospel week after week and for new connections within the community and more spiritual engagement with bible study, prayer and discipleship across the congregation. Please pray for wisdom about various logistical improvement projects including the main church and the church hall, to improve our engagement with the community. And Finally please pray for the Lord to provide the open door and resources they need so that Will and Naomi can continue to serve at St John’s beyond Autumn 2025’
