This Sunday - New Series Continues

Last Sunday, we kicked off our series in the book of Acts, learning that the history of the church is all about the ‘Acts of Jesus through His Holy Spirit’ and not so much the Acts of the Apostles. We were reminded that the early church were ‘hopelessly’ weak and yet also unstoppable because the proofs, the plan and the power all belonged to God.

The themes of confidence and commitment continue this week as we move into the second half of chapter 1. We pray that it will encourage and excite us all about God’s Kingdom.

Our children’s groups also continue to meet and they will be thinking about the character of God as he takes His people to the Promised Land. This week they will see that God always keeps His promises.

Refreshments are served both before and after the service and prayer is always available after the service; do ask other church members or speak to the service leader. It is going to be an exciting week. We look forward to seeing you!

This Sunday - Newcomers’ Cake

This Sunday we welcome anyone who is new at Christ Church to join us for cake after the service, Marc (our church leader) will be able to tell you a little about our church, all that we are trying to do and how you might be more involved.

This is for anyone who is new at Christ Church and has not been to one of these sessions before.

This Week -EQUIP

Our EQUIP groups met again this week to conclude our current section, thinking about the nature of God’s word. This week we reflected on what it would look like to put God’s word into practice. We have already had encouraging feedback from the sessions. Let’s pray we might be a church community that is devoted to God’s word.

Next Week - Prayer Evening

Next Thursday 25th May (7.30-8:30pm) we will be meeting together to hear news about the life of our church and to pray for our church. At Christ Church we are convinced that the life of our church needs to be underpinned by prayer. These evenings are informative and encouraging.

EQUIP groups will return on the week beginning 4th June after the half-term break.

This Saturday - Women’s Breakfast

There is still time to sign up to the Trinity Women’s breakfast that is happening this Saturday 20th May at St Kea Church. A delicious breakfast is served from 8.30 and our guest speaker this month is Erica Payne.

All dietary requirements can be catered for, make a note on the sign up form.

Next Sunday - Joint Service

On Sunday 28th May, St Kea will be hosting a united church service to celebrate the day of Pentecost. There will be no service at Archbishop Benson School as instead we will meet up with our friends from Kea for this very special All-Age celebration.

The service will begin at 10.30am with refreshments both before and after the service. There will be activities for all ages and this service will be a shorter service than ususal. It it the perfect opportunity to gather as a whole church family and worship together.

Next Tuesday - Wide Game

Over the past few weeks we have been inviting young people at Church Church to join our Tuesday Night Youth group (TNY). This is now open to any current yr 5 - 9’s who attend any of the Trinity Churches. If you know of any young people who might like to join then please do encourage them to sign up using the web link in the flyer above.

We will be running another invitational event again after half-term on a Tuesday night, so look out for that as well. Tuesday Night Youth meets every week in term time. For more information talk to Sam Payne or Marc Baker.

Christ Church Leadership Team

Earlier this week our Christ Church Leadership Team met for their monthly planning meeting. The Leadership Team is made up of Stephen Baird (chair), Marc Baker, Anna Blackie, Neil and Ruth Bridle and Jean Stanhope. The Leadership Team are appointed by the PCC (the trustees of our whole church) and as well as a monthly planning meeting they also meet monthly to pray for church members and the life of our church.

This month the team were: reviewing recent services; planning for a new website; planning for our EQUIP Groups in September; considering asking a new member to join the Leadership Team; talking about our current venue and even ordering a new banner for outside the school!

Do pray for the Leadership Team and if you ever have any thoughts or questions about the life of our church then do have a chat with any of the members.

Bold I Approach - The How and Why of Prayer

For those who are not in an EQUIP group, this four week course could be just for you! Meeting at St John’s Truro this course will be thinking about prayer. They will be asking how prayer works, why it matters and sharing some practical tips. The course works through a Bible study handbook, spending time together in groups and seeking to grow in our own prayer lives.

Thursdays 7-8pm (25 May-16 June) with refreshments.

This is a Trinity-wide event and all are welcome.

Trinity Fellowship Evening - 28th June

Once a term all of the congregations across Trinity are invited to gather together for updates, encouragements, prayer and singing. Drinks and puddings from 7pm, the meeting itself starts at 7.30pm at St John’s. It will be a chance for the whole church to find out how the ‘On the Way’ plans are progressing and to ask any questions. We will be holding a short service of reflection and prayer towards the end of the evening and aim to be finished by 8.30pm.

Weekly Prayer Points

Each week there will be a few things for our church life and church family that we can join together in praying for:

1. This week we give thanks for our leadership team at Christ Church. Thank God for their faithful service and pray for them as they lead the ministry of our church. Also give thanks for all those who are considering being baptised later this term at Christ Church. Pray for them as they prepare.

2. We also give thanks for St Kea this week. Pray for the leadership team and the leadership of Hugh Barne, the local minister at St Kea. Pray especially for their ministry to children and young people. Pray also for their outreach into Playing Place and the surrounding villages.

3. Please continue to pray for the work of Mercy Rescue Trust who are thankful for a new link with Purposefully Made Ministries (helping with therapy for four infants) but who have continued financial needs for an adapted toilet in one of the homes and for regular hospital bills for babies. Please pray that the love and hope of Christ shines through the whole organisation.
