Peace, Grace and Love

So much of our world doesn’t seem to make much sense. Why are things the way they are? Why is there so much trouble and uncertainty? A new government has been elected in our country, but of course, all the same problems remain. On a global scale, uncertainty is everywhere, and the prospect of more elections in America just adds to that uncertainty. At times we can be tempted to ask what is going on.  

Over the last few years, we have been working our way through Paul’s letter to the Ephesians. Over those years, we have been reminded that God has not left us uncertain and in the dark; he has a glorious plan that he has revealed for us to know clearly. God is at work creating his new humanity, uniting us together with Him for eternity, displaying his glory to the cosmos. 

We have been reminded week after week of the dimensions of Jesus’ love for us, and we have been challenged over the last months to live as the people he re-created us to be – not in the dark but light, putting off the old self and putting on the new. 

This week, we come to the end of our series, and in one final look at Ephesians, we will be drawing all these themes together. So join us as we reach the end of our journey together, as we send one another off into the school holidays, certain in God’s goodness towards us. 

“I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.” Ephesians 3:17b-19 

Remembering Nick de Sausmarez

Some of you will remember Nick de Sausmarez who was a member of our church family for many years. He sadly passed away on the 4th July and his family will be holding his funeral at St Kea Church this Friday (19th July) at 10.30am. If you knew Nick or Nick’s family you are very welcome to attend.

Old Kea Service - This Sunday

Prayer Walk - 11th August

Jenny Stephenson writes…

How do you like to pray? Sitting quietly, or on your knees maybe? How about on your feet? 

Can we challenge you to put on your trainers and come and join us on Sunday 11th August between 3pm and 5pm, to walk around Kea and Playing Place community to pray for those living there and all the activities that take place in this area? A creative way to bring the needs of this community before our Father in Heaven. More details to follow soon.

One Church - Saturday 7th September

Don’t forget to sign up for our ‘One Church’ event happening on Saturday 7th September where we will be coming together with all of the Trinity Churches for a day of teaching, fellowship and fun. The theme for the day will focus on God’s great plan to unite us together in Jesus.

The day will begin at Kea Church at 10am where we will have a time of praise and worship. This will then be followed by two sessions in the main church building led by our guest speaker for the day Rupert Shelley. After many years in ordained youth ministry, Rupert now works for the global Anglican mission organisation BCMS Crosslinks. He will be travelling down to join us from Newbury, where he serves in a multi-parish benefice. Rupert will be helping us to think about 'where all history is heading' as we look at the overarching story of the Bible

Whilst this these sessions are happening there will be activities for children of all ages from 0-16 in the church hall.

After the morning talks and activities have finished we will all head over to the Vicarage at 1pm for an afternoon garden party. There will be food, music, games and most importantly ice-cream!

It is going to be a great event to come together as ‘One Church’ so do sign up using the button below. There is a voluntary contribution forwards the food (which will be a BBQ and Salad). All you need to bring on the day is something to sit on, your plate and some cutlery.

Weekly Prayer Points

Each week there will be a few things for our church life and church family that we can join in praying for:

1. Heavenly Father, thank You for Your perfect peace and gracious love which is given to all Your children through faith in Christ. Thank You that there is nothing that can separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus, and that no one can remove the perfect peace You place within our heart.

2. This week we pray for the work of the Barnabus Fund. We thank you that they are able to transport and deliver bibles in local languages to Christians all over the world.

3. Thank you God for our brothers and sisters at Christ Church. We thank You for their time together last weekend at camp and for relationships to continue to grow. We ask as the summer holidays begin that families there will have a wonderful time together and take time out to listen to You through Your amazing creation.
