New year in focus

This Sunday we have the first of two services helping us to reflect on the New Year. We will be looking back and giving thanks for 2022, as well as looking forward to everything the Lord is calling us to in 2023. We hope that this short series will help to set the direction of our communal life for the year ahead.

There will be refreshments before and after the service and our Sunday groups and livestream return.

Trinity prayer - change of date

Before Christmas we circulated the date of 18th January for the next Trinity wide prayer evening hosted at Kenwyn. Apologies, we now realise this won’t be possible and are planning a similar event for March instead, details to follow. Please do consider supporting the launch of the Truro wide prayer initiative on the 16th instead (see below).

Month of Prayer and Fasting

From time to time, the churches in Truro have come together specifically to pray for our city, for the advance of the gospel and for one another. We know that if we're going to see what we long to see across our local area, then we can't afford not to pray.

As we start the new year, there's going to be a city-wide month of prayer and fasting from 15th January to 12th February. There will be an in-person launch event on Monday 16th January at the Moresk Centre and a second event to mark the end of the month on 13th February at All Saints Highertown (both starting at 7:30pm).

Marriage Course - starts 24th January

Each year we run a short three week course for couples who are getting married at our church. Whilst this course is primarily for people who are engaged, it can also be a great help to those who are already married. The sessions take place with a meal, the content is delivered from the front and there are lots of opportunities for you to talk in private with your partner. This year’s course begins on Tuesday 24th January at 7:30pm and runs for three sessions. For more information about joining the course contact the church office.

Tearfund Big Quiz Night - 28th January

We are thrilled to be taking part in Tearfund’s Big Quiz Night on Saturday 28 January at Kea Church at 7pm. It’s exciting to gather people together again for this fun and innovative quiz which promises to be a real challenge.

Being part of Tearfund’s Big Quiz Night also means we can do our part in helping communities and churches worldwide end extreme poverty and injustice. The quiz will have questions suitable for all ages and teams, large or small. Quizmasters include actress Tamsin Greig and England rugby star Billy Vunipola.

Money raised will be used to provide people with the tools to help lift themselves out of poverty. Please sign up below, whether or not you have a team in mind.

Explore course

Over the Christmas period, a number of people have been guests and visitors to our our services and may want to explore the claims of the Christian faith further. Members of our church family may also want to set aside some time to explore deeper themselves. We are arranging bespoke sessions for individuals and small groups, at a time to suit.

If that is you, or you know someone who would like to explore, please contact the church office or Hugh.

Gaps in food stock

Wendy Vincent reports that the response to the increased needs this winter has been very encouraging, and something to praise God for, however there is still an urgent need to fill gaps in what has been collected. If you would like to bring any of these items to church then Wendy would be happy to collect them there. Please continue to pray for new premises which are fit for purpose, in the right location and affordable.

Women’s Breakfasts 2023

A reminder of the dates for our 2023 programme. If you’ve never been to one of these breakfast then why not give it a try at the first one in February?

St Kea Away Day 11th March 2023

Please save the date for this event. Plans are underway and we hope to be able to share more details with you soon. We’d still be very keen to hear from anyone who would like to be involved in the planning team.

Weekly Prayer Points

This week’s prayer points:

1. Please pray for the new Trinity Truro Benefice as we work together this year. Pray that 2023 will bring great togetherness for all our churches.

2. Please pray for our government. Pray for wisdom and compassion as they face many difficult problems across our nation this year. Perhaps pray especially for Christian MPs to be salt and light.

3. Please join us in giving thanks for all that God has blessed us with and praying that our regular giving will increase as needed so we can continue with the ministries we have planned for the year.
