New Year in Focus

After looking back and giving thanks for 2022, as we considered the glorious nature of God’s transforming work amongst us, this Sunday we will look forward.

There will be refreshments before and after the service and our Sunday groups and livestream continue.

Launch event and prayer guide

This city-wide month of prayer and fasting begins on Sunday and runs until the 12th February. The launch event is on Monday 16th January at the Moresk Centre (Kemp Close, Truro TR1 1EF) starting at 7.30 pm.

A prayer guide has been produced, which also sets out a plan for reading through the book of Acts during this time. You can download this on the Gospel Partnership page of our website.

Midweek youth update

Sam Payne, our part-time youth worker, writes:

We enjoyed a fantastic term with our children and young people in the build up to Christmas - some particular highlights were delivering Christmas workshops to all of the children at Kea Primary school, which were a lot of fun, as well as wrapping and packing shoe boxes for the Operation Christmas child appeal with our Tuesday Night Youth. It was fantastic to see how eager and enthusiastic they all were at being able to support and serve children in need from different parts of the world. 

This week marks the start of a new term and the start of 2023. I am feeling very excited to see what God has in store for the lives of our children and young people. Please be praying for them as we seek to nurture and grow their faith in Jesus and equip them to live for Him in all aspects of their lives.

Everything we do is funded by you! Lanterns’ Christmas Party

Natalie Gavan, CAP Manager writes - Together with your donations and the kindness of others, we raised over £2500 plus hundreds of pounds of donated hampers. The Christmas party was a huge success - thanks be to God and of course our wonderful team!

In order to spend more time with her family Sue Sharp has decided to step down from her role as Church Administrator.

We will be advertising the part-time position (15 hours) soon. If you are interested, or know anyone who may be, please do contact either Victoria Cooper, Church Manager or Sian Goddard, HR Lead.

Aside from this paid role we would be interested to hear from anyone who would like to volunteer within the Church Office. Roles are varied, from photocopying to helping organise events.

Bringing evangelicals together

In 35 other dioceses there are fellowships of evangelicals where the aim is to provide mutual encouragement and a place for dialogue. Although there may have been a Truro Diocesan Evangelical Fellowship (TDEF) in the past, this had lapsed. In September 2021 a small group met to relaunch this and planned for an annual public meeting to take place. This is planned for 25th February and is for all church members who might be interested to attend. There will be an informal time of fellowship, pudding, sung worship, prayer, the appointment of the TDEF committee and a keynote address from the Rev'd John Dunnett. It looks like it will be an encouraging evening of fellowship and it would be great to have good representation from St Kea.

Trinity prayer - change of date

Before Christmas we circulated the date of 18th January for the next Trinity-wide prayer evening hosted at Kenwyn. We can now confirm that this has been moved to 22nd March. Please do join us then for fellowship across our congregations and a change to pray together.

Weekly Prayer Points

This week’s prayer points:

1. Please pray for St Allen as they reach out to their local community and for the Lord’s leading and provision for a suitable local minister to be appointed.

2. Please pray for the work of Compassion UK. Compassion’s 8,500 local church partners serve some of the most vulnerable children and families and there are significant pressures at present in many countries because of a global food crisis. Compassion aims to offer Christ centred care focussed on children.

3. Please pray for Stay & Play, for the opportunity to build relationships and for those who attend to grow closer to having faith in Jesus.
