This Sunday

In Christ we no longer belong just to ourselves, but to each other. This is a beautiful truth because it underlines the value that every believer has in God’s economy. Each of us, with our unique temperament, character, skills, background, struggles and wounds has a part to play in the body of Christ. It is not just those serving in a recognised role who are contributing to the Church’s ministry. One aspect of gospel motivated generosity is how we give ourselves to one another. This Sunday we will spend some time considering the beautiful picture that the Bible gives us of this communal life.

There will be communion during the service as well as groups for children and young people. Refreshments will be served before and after the service so do join us if you can.

Next week we will be meeting together for our special all age Mother’s Day service. Flowers will be given out to all the ladies in the church so do be thinking of who you might invite to this wonderful service.

Enable - Small Groups

Welcome back to ENABLE after our half term break. In this part of ENABLE we are thinking about the wonderful gift of the Holy Spirit.

There is no such thing as a Christian who has not received the Holy Spirit. In our groups this week we will be reflecting on the wonderful implications of this truth. But while Christians tend to agree that all believers have the Holy Spirit, there is lots of discussion about if you can have more (or less) of the Holy Spirit. What does it mean to be ‘filled with the Holy Spirit’? Like a cup with holes in the bottom, can we leak the Spirit and how can we be filled up? What does it look like if someone is filled with the Holy Spirit? These are the questions we are going to explore this week.

This Saturday

Twice a year Christians with evangelical convictions, from churches across the Diocese, are invited to gather and sing praise to God, pray for the the Diocese and be encouraged by a visiting speaker.

This Saturday the Rt Rev’d Dr Jill Duff, the Bishop of Lancaster, will be the speaker. CEEC was first created by John Stott in 1960 to provide a “collective” evangelical voice within the Church of England and Diocesan Evangelical Fellowships (DEF’s) are a local expression of this. Since the TDEF was re-booted last February (with support from Bishop Philip) the two meetings have been encouraging and uplifting, with good numbers and representation from a considerable number of churches across the Diocese.

APCM - Electoral Roll Applications

Our APCM is to be held on Wednesday 17th April at 7pm. If you are part of St Kea and have not yet completed an Electoral Roll form it would be great if you could do so asap. Closing date for applications for this year is 24th March. The form can be found on our website using the link below. Forms can be returned via email to pccsecretary@stkea.org.uk or return hard copies to the Church Office.

CAP News

We are celebrating another family who are now debt free this month. As we presented her a certificate, she was moved to tears that the trial of being in debt was over and for what she had accomplished with the help of CAP.

Thank you for your continued financial support and prayers, with your support lives are being changed. During her time with CAP she invited Jesus into her life, was baptised and is a member of Lanterns. Praise God!

The Real Easter Egg

This year we would like to give all of the Year 6 children at Kea School a Real Easter Egg. If you would like to donate towards this you can click on the link below. We ask for a suggested donation of £5 for each egg. Thank you.

Churchyard Gardening - 9th March

Please come and help look after our lovely Churchyards. No gardening experience needed. Please wear sturdy footwear and bring gardening gloves and pruning equipment if you have them.

Prayer Day

On Saturday 16th March from 6am - 10pm St Kea Church will be hosting a 24/7 prayer day focusing on Lent. There will be various guided stations around the church and tea and coffee will be available on the day. Please contact Sian Goddard or Jenny Stephenson to sign up for an hour slot.

Weekly Prayer Points

Each week there will be a few things for our church life and church family that we can join in praying for:

1. God, from whom all good things come, you shower us with blessings and you make us stewards of your world; give us generous hearts and make us cheerful givers. Guard us from holding tight when we should be letting go and honoring you as Lord of all we have.

2. We want to thank you for our Gospel Partners Mercy Rescue Trust. We pray for the team who work tirelessly rescuing babies and placing them in foster and forever homes. Thank you for all the answered prayers to financially being able to repair dangerous buildings and for the health of some of the most sick.

3. Father God we lift the congregation of Christ Church to You. We ask Your blessings on new members joining them. Help them to feel welcomed and loved. May they find a spiritual home here where they can grow closer to You.
