Prince of Deliverance

As the season of Advent continues we learn more about the coming Messiah who comes to bring deliverance and forgiveness to His people. By delivering us from sin and bringing restoration, He comes to our aid and brings true healing.

We will be sharing Communion together in the service.

There will be refreshments served before and after the service and the livestream goes live at 10.20am. Groups for children and young people will also continue and prayer ministry will be available.

Enable groups this week

So far in ENABLE we have considered two of the wonderful gifts God gives his people to enable us to live for him. First we considered the blessing we are to one another in the church. Secondly we have been thinking about the gift of prayer. We have thought about the content of our prayers, the reasons we don’t pray and then last week we thoughts about prayer in the midst of suffering.

This week we are concluding our time in the ‘school’ of prayer by looking at another New Testament prayer - the prayer that Jesus taught us. This is the prayer that we are most familiar with. It is given to us as a model for our prayers. Not just to be prayed word for word, but to shape and form the content and character of our prayers.

Day of Prayer - 1st December

This Friday, as we start the Advent season we are setting aside time for prayer and reflection. St Kea Church will be open from 10am until 10pm with various prayer stations and tea/coffee available. On this occasion there is no need to sign up for specific time slots, please do come and go as you are able to. Advent is a time of longing for the coming of the One about whom the scriptures were written, we hope this will help us all in our worship of Jesus.

Truro Foodbank Advent Calendar

Wendy Vincent from Truro Foodbank writes… We are inviting people who'd like to be involved to get a bag or a box and for each day during 24 days in December to add a non-perishable item and then drop off in January when we're sure our stocks will be really low and we will need donations. Maybe this could be done with friends, families or in activity groups so they can have fun doing it together. So please can you spread the word.

We really don't want Christmas foods like mince pies, Christmas puddings, selection boxes etc. It's the basic foods that we need to help people feed themselves and their families in the New Year. So our calendar includes the things that we are short of and there are some treats, some household and personal hygiene items and even dog food as many of our customers are more upset that they can't feed their dogs than they themselves are hungry. For your interest as of yesterday we are completely out of toilet rolls, breakfast cereals and deodorant. Jars of coffee and biscuits are almost out.

You are welcome to leave the donations at the back of the Church and I will take them up to the Foodbank Unit. If they would prefer to deliver the address is Unit 15b, Threemilestone Industrial Estate, TR4 9LD. (2 doors down from the Ford Transit Service Centre.) The Foodbank is open for donations on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9:30am to 12pm, but Mondays are best as that doesn't coincide with distribution and so parking is easier.

CAP and Lanterns Christmas Appeal

Thank you so much for those of you who have already donated to this year’s CAP and Lanterns Christmas Appeal. There is still time if you would like to donate and the closing date for the Christmas appeal is now the 7th December to make sure everything is ready to distribute. Adult baptisms and renewal of vows

It has been great to have some infant baptisms recently at St Kea. From time to time we also try to make sure that there are also opportunities for young people and adults to be baptised. Baptism is outward and visible sign of an inward and spiritual reality. Those who have turned away from sin in repentance and have placed their trust in Jesus have been reborn and the Biblical pattern is that Baptism marks this spiritual identity. If you haven't yet been baptised and would like to, or you wish to renew the Baptismal vows that were made on your behalf as an infant, then the next opportunity for this will be on the 21st January. Please do contact the office if you are interested and would like to know more.

Volunteers needed

On Christmas Day Dockyard will be hosting a lunch for individuals and families who would otherwise be alone or unable to afford the costs of Christmas. They are looking for volunteers to join in with the festivities - cooking, serving, and playing games.

Mince Pies - Needed!!

At each of our Christmas services our refreshment team serve mince pies. If you are able to, please would you consider donating a box of mince pies to use at these events and bring them to church over the next couple of weeks. Thank you.

Weekly Prayer Points

Each week there will be a few things for our church life and church family that we can join together in praying for:

1. Lord Jesus, Light of light, you have come among us. Help us who live by your light to shine as lights in your world.

2. We ask for pray for our gospel partners Tearfund as they continue to respond quickly to disasters and conflicts, supporting those in greatest need throughout the recovery process. We also pray as they partner with churches and organisations, mobilising resources and empowering communities to lift themselves out of poverty.

3. Finally we pray for Kenwyn Church. Curate Andy Boorne writes:

God does seem to be blessing us, so we thank you for answered prayers. We are growing closer to God, and new people have been attending with us. The Sunday school has started (JAM@11 -Jesus And Me), schools work is progressing, I love the atmosphere when I’m able to pop into the toddler group called ‘ABC’, our new Bibles have arrived, it great to see people chatting around our new coffee area and café style area at the back of the church.

Please pray again that our God touches us with His Holy Spirit, anything else is secondary. Though, obviously on our hearts is that our Christmas events will build His kingdom. That God will touch people through our two home groups, and through individual devotion times. We would love to see more people form into prayer triplet groups. We also would love prayer for all the groups and activities, and especially for the new youth service starting in the new year which we’d love specific prayer for.
