This Sunday - Life at the Margins Resumes

This Sunday at ChristChurch, we’ll be continuing our journey through the letter of 1 Peter. Life can be difficult, and following Jesus doesn’t mean we’re exempt from struggles. In fact, Peter’s letter reminds us that living as God’s people in a broken world often brings challenges of its own.  

This week we are given a powerful vision of how we are called to respond when the challenges come — with unity, compassion, humility, and hope. We are going to ask what it means to live in a way that reflects Jesus, even in the face of suffering or misunderstanding. We’ll also discover the deep encouragement that comes from knowing that Christ has been there before us. 

So join us as we unpack these things together and as we seek to grow in faith, love, and resilience. Whether you’re wrestling with challenges, seeking to deepen your understanding, or simply looking for encouragement, there’s something here for everyone. Do join us as we gather around God’s word together. 

Refreshments will be served both before and after our gathering. Children’s groups will meet for all ages. We’d love to see you there.

Praise God - We Did It!

Congratulations to everyone – praise and thanks to God. We are delighted to announce that we have now raised the pledges needed to add the new role of dedicated Youth and Families Worker to our team. This step was agreed by our Standing Committee at their meeting last week. Amazing!

It is staggering to see the generosity of so many in our church family. To have raised so many pledges for regular monthly giving in such a short space of time is truly wonderful. Thank you to those who made pledges over the last week to get us across the finish line.

Our goal is to appoint someone to start in September to lead the new initiative to develop the size of our youth team, expand the scale of our youth groups, and serve many more young people. The challenge of recruitment now begins. This is a significant challenge; youth workers are in short supply across the UK, but it is especially challenging for us here in Cornwall. So please do pray as the role description is put together and the position is advertised over the next few weeks.

We will follow up with all those who have pledged (about how to convert pledges into regular giving) as we get closer to the appointment. Thank you – let’s celebrate together!

Half Term Break

This week we will take a break from small groups for half term and the following week we will be meeting together as Trinity Church on Monday evening at Kenwyn Church (see below).

Small groups will resume again the week beginning 3rd March.

Next Monday - Trinity Fellowship Evening @ Kenwyn Church

Please join us next Monday (24th February) as we come together as Trinity Church for an evening together. There will be updates from each of our congregations along with music and prayer. This time we will be meeting at Kenwyn Church. Refreshments will be served from 7pm with the main part of the evening starting at 7.30pm. We’d love to see you there.

Meeting Next Thursday - 27th Feb

Diocesan Evangelical Fellowships have a link with the Church of England Evangelical Council (CEEC) which was first created by John Stott in 1960 to provide a collective evangelical voice within the Church of England. DEF's are particularly concerned to encourage evangelism, bible-based and Christ-centered formation of discipleship, evangelical leadership within the Church of England.

With the Church of England reeling from recent revelations, at our online gather later this month we will be looking at the topic of 'paying attention to power'. Our speaker Mark Meynell has recently co-edited a book on the subject called Not So with You: Power and Leadership for the Church (2023) addressing the critical issue of healthy use of power according to the Bible's pattern.

Mark has served in various roles, including as a freelance writer, a chaplain in Whitehall, and Director (Europe & Caribbean) for Langham Preaching. His other books include What Makes Us Human? - a profound exploration of identity and meaning, A Wilderness of Mirrors exploring themes of power, trust and authority in modern society, When Darkness Seems My Closest Friend and Cross-Examined.

Weekly Prayer Points

Each week there will be a few things for our church life and church family that we can join in praying for:

1. Loving Lord, help us to desire a gentle spirit of compassion, humility, and love into our lives so that we may be an example of a godly believer and give glory to Your holy name.

2. This week we pray for our mission partners Mercy Rescue Trust. Thank you not only for their work rescuing abandoned babies, but for the ongoing support of their older children who are now staring college or university. We praise and thank you that these opportunities will be life-changing for them. We also thank you for all the staff who work tirelessly with the babies, either at home or in hospitals, sometime with more than one baby. For more updates from Mercy Click Here

3. We are so grateful for the many children we have in our churches. We pray that they grow in faith and relationship with You. We pray for relationships to build through our Sunday gatherings and we ask for other opportunities for our children to come together. Thank you for all the children’s ministry teams who prepare and deliver lessons each week, caring for our children well. Give them renewed strength and energy as they serve each week.
