All Age - This Sunday

This Sunday we gather to celebrate Pentecost in our All Age services. We will be thinking about the wonderful gift of the Holy Spirit and the birth of the church. Before Jesus left to return to his Father in heaven Jesus promised that he would ask the Father to send the Holy Spirit to his followers, to be our helper. So join us as we give thanks for the Spirit’s work and power and as we learn more about how the Spirit helps us today. Our all age services will be interactive and involve elements for all ages.

Refreshments will be served both before and after the service so do stay around to chat with one another afterwards.

Later on Pentecost Sunday there will be a service at Old Kea at 3.30pm and then in the evening we also have a special praise gathering, to celebrate and praise God together. See below in this email for more information.

Old Kea - Communion Service

This Sunday the monthly service will be held at Old Kea Church at 3.30pm. This month Hugh Barne will be leading the communion service so do come along if you can.

Pentecost Praise - This Sunday

Join us this Sunday for a wonderful evening of ‘Praise and Worship’ held at St Kea Church from 7pm. It’s a great opportunity to engage in an extended time of sung worship led by our church bands. During the evening there will be time given to creatively reflect and focus on what we have heard.

Refreshments and cakes will be served from 7pm ready for a 7.30pm start. Whether you have been before or coming for the first time we’d love to see you there.

Pentecost Prayer

The next St Kea Fellowship evening is on Wednesday 22nd May. Join us at 7pm to share a meal. From 7.30pm we will hear updates from various areas of church life and our gospel partners, and bring our requests to God as we pray together.

Paths Less Trodden

So far in ENABLE we have thought about the four central God given enablers: the Holy Spirit, God’s word, prayer and one another (the church).

Put together, they summarise the heart of how God is working in the world. We have previously described it in a simple sentence, something like... God transforms us and enables us for his mission as we prayerfully proclaim God’s word, in the power of the Spirit, to one another.

This is where the weight of the Bible is - so it has been the focus of ENABLE so far. But in the Bible we see that there are other gifts that God gives us to enable us as disciples. As minor themes they becomes ‘paths less trodden’ in church teaching, but they are going to be the focus of our last few sessions.

So in the remainder of this series, we are going to focus on four other enablers: sleep, sabbath, creativity and friendship. This week we are going to start with sleep.

 ENABLE MATERIAL

Women’s Breakfast - This Saturday!

Please do join us for our next Trinity Women’s Breakfast this Saturday at St Kea Church from 8.30-10am. In our breakfasts this year we are looking at six ways in which God is different from us and exploring together why that is a good thing. This time, we’ll consider how God needs nothing, and how that encourages us as needy people. Do come along for friendship, teaching and discussion over a delicious breakfast. Click on the graphic above to book your place.

This Saturday

Shortly after the Women’s breakfast at the later time of 10.30am we will be meeting to look after our beautiful churchyard. If you haven’t been before do think about if you can help at all. There are always lots of different jobs to be done and no experience of gardening is needed. Please bring any gardening gloves if you have them and a strong pair of shoes/wellies and we’ll provide the rest.

Kea Summer Fete 2024

Kea Summer Fete will be held this year on Saturday 15th June from 12-3pm on Kea School field. Kea Church share the running of this event and have responsibility for the refreshments tent and the plant/toy/book stall.

Volunteers needed - We would really love some volunteers to help serve refreshments on the day. If this is something you can do please get in touch with Sian Goddard (details on Churchsuite)

We also need some cakes and traybakes for the stall, so if you or someone you know loves baking and could provide us with some delicious bakes please can you drop them off in the church hall from Friday 14th June or bring them on the day.

We are also looking for any good quality toys/books to sell, so if you can donate anything towards this stall please bring to the church hall leading up to the event.

Lastly we will be selling plants so if you would like to contribute to this stall do let us know asap.

The fete is a wonderful opportunity to be part of the local community and to engage with the school families. Some of the money raised at the event is donated towards our mission partners so please do save this date in your diary and come along to support this fantastic event.

CAP Update - Debt Free

Praise God another life changed!

Chloe is not only a CAP client, but also a long standing member of Word One to One and member of Lanterns, celebrates being debt free!

Chloe says: The process was amazing and I couldn't have got there without CAP's help, I would have been too frightened to do this on my own. You were with me every step of the way.

It is so nice to have the windows and doors open, not worrying about bailiffs. It's a very special feeling to be debt free. I don't  have the worry anymore, it's like having a clean slate and it's taken away the anxiety I have carried for a long time.

You encouraged me to keep going I am very grateful".

Praise God!

Weekly Prayer Points

Each week there will be a few things for our church life and church family that we can join in praying for:

1. Ahead of Pentecost Sunday we thank You for the gift of the Holy Spirit. Guide us with Your Spirit and help us to proclaim Your good news, living our lives as witnesses to Your love.

2. This week we pray for Tearfund who are working with local churches and partners in the Middle East who are urgently responding to people’s needs. We particularly pray for humanitarian workers for protection for those who are working to provide humanitarian assistance and medical supplies.

3. Praise God for the congregation at Christ Church. Thank you for the opportunities they have had to meet together after the services to build community and share life together. Thank you for the growing ministry with the older children’s group and we ask that this will continue to grow.
