The People on the OutsideWe all want to be on the inside, and very few people like being left out. To have the latest news, to be first to be invited to the party, to have the exclusive tickets that no one else has got hold of. Yet in our culture, the inside track is often exclusive, and getting on the inside track is not straightforward – it is often about how you were brought up, what school or university you went to, who you know, being a friend of a friend. This week we return after a short break to our series for the autumn - The King and His Kingdom. We have already seen that Jesus is the King with authority, even authority to forgive sin – he is the centre point of human history. So this week, we are thinking about how anyone gets to receive this forgiveness. Who is invited? Who has the ticket? Who gets to be on the inside when it comes to Jesus? We are going to be warned that the way in is not what we might expect. We are going to be encouraged to see the implications for each one of us. We are going to be given good news to share with a world where so many and so used to being excluded!
