This Sunday

This Sunday at ChristChurch, we’ll continue our series in 1 Peter, exploring what it means to live as those who don’t quite belong in our modern world. This week, we are called to be a people who live lives that surprise others. 

Following Jesus transforms every aspect of our lives—we leave behind old patterns of living, embrace God’s will, and commit ourselves to serving others. It means living lives marked by prayer, love, and hospitality towards one another. 

Living this way stands out in the world. In many ways, it is the life others long for—life in community, knowing love, being served, and serving. But it is not always easy. How do we navigate the tension between the life we’ve left behind and the life we’re called to? What does it look like to live faithfully, using every moment to honour God and serve others? 

Join us as we unpack these questions and explore what it means to live purposefully as part of God’s family. Whether you’re seeking guidance, encouragement, or a deeper understanding of God’s will for your life, we’d love to have you with us this Sunday. Come and discover how God’s word equips us to live lives of hope, love, and purpose.

Refreshments will be served both before and after our gathering. Children’s groups will meet for all ages.

Following our service on Sunday we are hoping 10-15 people might come and join us at River Street to do some jobs e.g. cleaning, organising etc… If you are interested please bring some old clothes and some lunch with you. If you have a hoover, bowl, cleaning cloths and gloves these would also be useful to have. We will aim to be there from 11.30am. Many Thanks

Starting Soon

Meals with a Message will be starting on Sunday 27th April at our new location ‘The Living Room’. These sessions are a chance to bring people together on a Sunday afternoon, over food, to explore the Christian faith. They are designed for both adults and those who bring children along.

Diocesan Evangelical Fellowships have a link with the Church of England Evangelical Council (CEEC) which was first created by John Stott in 1960 to provide a collective evangelical voice within the Church of England. DEF's are particularly concerned to encourage evangelism, bible-based and Christ-centered formation of discipleship, evangelical leadership within the Church of England.

With the Church of England reeling from recent revelations, at our online gathering we will be looking at the topic of 'paying attention to power'. Our speaker Mark Meynell has recently co-edited a book on the subject called Not So with You: Power and Leadership for the Church (2023) addressing the critical issue of healthy use of power according to the Bible's pattern.

Mark has served in various roles, including as a freelance writer, a chaplain in Whitehall, and Director (Europe & Caribbean) for Langham Preaching. His other books include What Makes Us Human? - a profound exploration of identity and meaning, A Wilderness of Mirrors exploring themes of power, trust and authority in modern society, When Darkness Seems My Closest Friend and Cross-Examined.

Last Chance to Sign Up

Michael Tinker will be entertaining us this Friday at St Kea Church from 4pm, so if you have children of primary school age or know someone who does then do encourage them to sign up to this fun event. Tickets will remain on sale until Friday morning. Kid’s tea and refreshments from 4pm with the show starts at 4.30pm.

Weekly Prayer Points

Each week there will be a few things for our church life and church family that we can join in praying for:

1. Heavenly Father, as we continue to read 1 Peter we pray that this week Your word guides us in what Your will is for our lives and how we can serve those around us. Help us to stand out, even when this is hard to do and trust in the plans you have for us.

2. This week we pray for our gospel partners Richard and Riekje Wallace. We Praise You for Richard’s safe and productive trip to Sierra Leone. For good trainings and for developing local trainers. We than You that you are building up the church family in Datchet - people meeting Jesus, people serving Jesus, people sharing Jesus. We pray for an inspiring staff conference and Soul Care Retreat in Phoenix. We also pray for special times connecting with some friends during Richards travels through the US. 3. Loving Father, thank you for the opportunities we have to grow our Men’s and Women’s ministries within our churches. We thank you that there were 38 women from across Trinity Church who met for the first Trinity Women’s breakfast of the year. We pray for relationships to build and for women to keep seeking Your word. We praise You that men from our different churches meet ito encourage and support each other.
