This Sunday - Approved Teachers

Over recent years, the church has been hit by a number of high profile leadership scandals. Leaders who had national and international acclaim have been found to have fallen short. This week, we will begin to look at the leadership problem and what Godly leadership looks like.

‘Approved Teachers’ will be those who rightly handle the truth of God’s word, who are gentle and avoid unnecessary arguments. How can we encourage our leaders to act as God desires? How can the New Testament picture of leadership help us in our everyday lives? Join us this Sunday as we see a right vision for leadership in the church, as we learn to be Never Ashamed.

Our Sunday Clubs will be running as normal, with Creche for children under 5, and Sunday Club groups for Reception to Yr 7. Refreshments are being served before and after our Sunday morning service, so do join us and catch up with friends old and new. Prayer after the service will be available.

EQUIP - Continues This Week

This week in our Small Groups we come to the turning point in all human history. Having seen the power of God in creation and the devastation of a broken world - now the grace of God falls. But… and here is the question, how can Jesus’ death actually deal with the problem of our broken world? In fact, how can the death of one man 2000 years ago change the future for the whole cosmos? Join us this week, as our Equip journey continues.

Women’s Breakfast Saturday 15th October

Join us for our next Women’s Breakfast. You can book online using the link. All dietary requirements catered for, make a note when booking. We will be welcoming women from across Trinity Church Truro so it will be a great opportunity to meet our others from across the city.

Next Sunday - Harvest Celebration

Next Sunday will be our all-age harvest celebration at Christ Church. As part of our time together we will be collecting donations of food to give to our friends at Foodbank Truro, one of our Mission Partners.

Foodbank are in real need at the moment so do consider if you can contribute. They welcome donations of any non-perishable food, but would especially value breakfast cereals, long-life milk, tinned meat, tinned fish, biscuits and washing-up liquid.

Finance Update

We are deeply grateful for the regular giving support of our St Kea church family, even as the cost of living rises. We recognise that the coming months may be uncomfortable financially for many. 

Generally, our planned regular giving has not varied much over the years as people come and go or adjust what they can afford to give, but recently it has started to decline in a more pronounced way than usual. We have responded quickly by pausing all non-essential discretionary expenditure and prioritising paying for our staff, clergy, heating and lighting our buildings and ministries such as Christians Against Poverty.

To keep you in the loop, here’s a snapshot of our income and expenditure in August and for the first eight months of this year:

At this stage – and only if you are in a position to do so – we want to ask whether you might consider increasing your giving a little? Overall, we need giving to increase by 10 per cent to get back on track - but every little helps. Citizens Advice Cornwall

Citizens Advice Cornwall has produced an Autumn Newsletter which contains important information about coping with the cost of living and rising energy bills.

Weekly Prayer Points

Each week there will be a few things for our church life and family that we can join together in praying for:

1. Please pray for St Allen that God would provide the right person to become their new Focal Minister.

2. Give thanks for Compassion UK. We have helped fund a Compassion project based at St Paul’s Cathedral in Embu in Kenya. Pray that the funding needed by this project will be raised so they can continue to do this incredible work.

3. Pray for all those struggling financially. As winter draws in, we are reminded of how cold it can be. Pray for support for those who are going to find it hard to stay warm over the coming months.
