This Sunday at St Kea - Wisdom with Desire

We all know about ‘learning the hard way’. Proverbs gives us the opportunity to learn life lessons without learning the hard way. This week we turn to what Proverbs says about desire. Addressed, as it is, to a young man… Proverbs has much to say about the dangers of letting sexual desire determine your path. This teaching also applies more widely to all of us in any circumstances and at any stage of life, as we deal with desire and temptation.

This Sunday we will be gathering round the Lord’s table and there will be the opportunity to partake in Communion. There will be refreshments before and after the service, a livestream, Sunday morning children’s and youth groups. Prayer Ministry will also be available after the service.

Away Day - ticket deadline this week

Not long now until our St Kea Away Day. In order to help us make suitable arrangements for the day we are asking everone to sign up by this Saturday (4th March), but no need to wait until then! We will be hosting the first part of the day at Truro Senior School, TR1 1TH, and then after lunch we are planning to run a couple of activity options nearby to cater for various tastes. This Thursday - Lent Course 2023

This Lent Course is designed for anyone who is not in an Equip Group or Small Group across Trinity. Starting tomorrow and running for four evenings in March, this is a chance to meet with others and dig into God’s word together. Giving ‘in focus’

Last Sunday was our annual Giving Sunday and our Oversight Minister, Marc Baker, spoke from Proverbs about ‘Wisdom with Money’.

• Riches are a blessing from the LORD, we should be thankful for them.

• Riches do not last, don’t put your trust in them.

• Riches are not the most important thing, don’t overvalue them.

• Riches are give to be given, don’t hold tight to them.

We don’t often talk about money at St Kea, but it’s an important part of our worship and enables us to minister to a wide range of people throughout the week. Marc asked if everyone would consider if it would be right for them to consider a 10% increase in their regular giving. Appointment of new part time administrator

Sian Goddard writes: “Following a robust recruitment and interview process, we are delighted to announce that Debra Stanhope will be joining the staff team as church administrator from Monday 17th April. She takes over from Sue Sharp who has served us wonderfully in the office, but who has decided to step back from her paid role.

Debra will be working part time Monday to Thursday and the office hours will continue to be 9.30-12.30.

Debra has many years experience as a teacher and has felt called to his change of role. She brings with her a wealth of knowledge and skills which will be a great asset to the team.

If you have any office related queries leading up to 17th April, please direct these to Vicki Cooper but do bear in mind that she is covering two roles at present and therefore time is at a premium.

Weekly Prayer Points

This week’s prayer points:

1. Give thanks for all that the Lord has blessed us with over the last year. Particularly that our financial needs have been met. Pray that He will continue to bless us as we face the challenge of increased costs across our churches.

2. Give thanks for all the encouragements at St John’s. Pray for Will as he leads, Naomi as she oversees the new Sunday Club and for the whole church family as they sit under God’s word together. Pray for the Lent Course starting tomorrow.

3. Pray for Tearfund and the work they do helping the poorest lift themselves out of poverty. Showing Jesus’ love in the most practical way, pray that many will be led to faith through this ministry.
