Life Transformed

Join us again this Sunday as we continue in our series ‘The Global Gospel’. This week we will be thinking about ‘Life Transformed’.

Personal change is hard won. For those moments when we doubt the power of God to change our own hard hearts, or those around us, we need to be reminded of the remarkable change that God has brought to so many. Saul’s conversion is both dramatic and unlikely. This week we will be encouraged by the God who transforms lives.

Groups for children and young people will continue and refreshments will be served before and after the service. Prayer ministry will also be available. Livestream will go live from 10.20am.

Small Groups - This Week

This week we begin the final part of the ENABLE course. Many of us want to live our lives as disciples of Jesus Christ but may not feel like we are really growing in our faith. Some us feel busy or tired in our service of Jesus. Some of us have dreams of things we would love to undertake for Jesus but, maybe because of a lack of confidence or lack of opportunity, we feel we haven’t yet realised these dreams.

What is the common factor in each of those situations? It is a need to experience God’s enabling. His wonderful, gentle, yet powerful enabling.

In the first three sections of the course we have considered three different ways God enables us to serve Him. His gift of each other in the church, to encourage and support. His gift of prayer, that we can seek God’s work in our lives. His gift of His Holy Spirit, God dwelling in us.

In this week’s session we begin thinking about the ‘fourth’ main enabler - the gift of his word in the Bible.

It is going to be a great term!

 ENABLE MATERIAL

A note of thanks from our outgoing Church Warden

Martin Handford writes;

“Dear church family, as you may know from the recent APCM, after 5 years as your Church Warden, I have stepped back from the role to explore new things that the Lord might have for me. However, I am so pleased and thankful that David Knights has graciously stepped up to be Church Warden.

It was a huge privilege and pleasure to be your Warden but it is a big busy job. I was therefore so grateful for your prayers, your support and your love. I couldn't have done the job without you. Thank you.

And with that in mind I would encourage you to pray for Dave and his wife Sian, and support them in any way that you can.

Thank you again.”

We are very grateful to Martin for all that he has given to the role. He has served us all sacrificially and with such passion. The last five years have been very eventful and Martin has played a key role in addressing all that arose. We pray for both Martin and Catharine as they begin this new season, whilst continuing to serve in many other areas of church life.

Giving Update

Each month we will be updating you on how your giving supports the work of our Church. This month we are looking at the work of CAP.

Discerning future mission

Iain Brunt, our leadership assistant in the church office, will be getting married to Becky Hancock at Old Kea Church on 11th May. We wish them well as they start their married life together and we pray for them as they begin this journey.

Iain and Becky have also asked us to pray for them as they discern whether a mission opportunity in Namibia would be the right next step for them. They have been accepted as candidates by African Inland Mission and hope to visit an area of Namibia for 2 weeks in August 2024 for some mutual discernment. If you would like to find out more, or to help them financially with this exploratory trip, then please click here.

Welcome Millie

Millie joined the Dockyard team in January as our Youth and Families Worker for Low Income Communities. This funding is awarded from the Church of England . Millie has joined the team, working alongside Sam and Erica, to serve and reach families affected by poverty in Truro.

A key part of this is the Dockyard Community Cafe at Hendra Hall, which has been open weekly since October ‘23. The team continue to meet new families most weeks and have got to know the regulars. They often have opportunities for conversations about Christian faith.

Plans are in motion to run a two-day festival, aimed at families, on the 29th-30th August. This will be based at Tregolls School, but seeks to serve the local community and beyond. Could you help with this intiative? There will be fun, gospel presentations and follow up invitations to church. They are also planning day trips throughout August for families who do not have access to transport or lack leisure opportunities.

Please do pray as the Dockyard team continue to build new relationships, share faith and plans for the future. Please contact sampayne@dockyardcollective.org if you’d like to consider involvement this summer.

Women’s Breakfast - 18th May

Please do join us for our next Trinity Women’s Breakfast on Saturday 18th May at St Kea Church from 8.30-10am. In our breakfasts this year we are looking at six ways in which God is different from us and exploring together why that is a good thing. This time, we’ll consider how God needs nothing, and how that encourages us as needy people. Do come along for friendship, teaching and discussion over a delicious breakfast. Click on the sign up button below to book your place.

Weekly Prayer Points

Each week there will be a few things for our church life and church family that we can join in praying for:

1. Father God help us this week to find joy in the gospel and share the good news of Jesus. Please help us to trust in Your word and not lean on our understanding because we know that Your word never fails.

2. This week we pray for the work of Truro Foodbank. We give thanks that this work continues to be run by volunteers and staff. We ask that people will continue to be generous with their financial donations allowing them to purchase food and that they are able to provide appropriately for their clients.

3. We pray for St Clement’s this week and their plans moving forward with St Allen. We pray that would trust in You through this season of change.
