Gospel Partnership Sunday

This Sunday our series on generosity continues as we mark Gospel Partnership Sunday. One of the great joys of joining the family of God, through receiving the gospel message, is that we are bound to others as brothers and sisters in Christ. We reflect this in our formal links to charities and individuals whom we support with prayer and finances. We hope that we bring gospel encouragement to believers and gospel sharing opportunity to reach those who aren’t yet believers. One of our local partnership networks is the Peninsula Gospel Partnership, a cross-denominational group of churches. This Sunday one of those ministers, Simon Smallwood from Immanuel Bodmin, will visit us to preach God's word and to give us a sense of ministry in that part of Cornwall.

Children and young people’s groups will resume and refreshments will be served before and after the service as well as a bake sale for Chloe Oakes’ fundraiser (see below). This will be followed by our Eat Together Sunday which will be a bring and share lunch, do stay if you can to chat and fellowship together.

Enable - Spiritual Gifts

Over the last few weeks, we have been thinking about the person and work of the Holy Spirit. We have thought about the work of the Holy Spirit in: a) giving life; b) showing us Jesus and c) teaching us to know that we are children of God. We have also spent time thinking around some key teachings about the Holy Spirit: a. how to allow the Holy Spirit to fill every part of our lives and b. how not to grieve or resist His work.

This week, we come to the last of our sessions on the Holy Spirit and we are thinking about spiritual gifts. As with the other sessions, there is much more to say about this topic than we could ever cover in one session. Survey a church like ours and you will find lots of questions about spiritual gifts and sometimes discussions have led to contention. It is really sad when that happens because spiritual gifts are given to the church to build the church up (1 Cor 12:7) and they are always to be used in love (1 Cor. 13).

In this week’s session our focus will be on ‘building up’ and ‘love’ even as we touch on some of the more contentious questions.

Prayer Day - This Saturday

Do join us this Saturday from 6am - 10pm St Kea Church where will be holding a 24/7 prayer day focusing on Lent. There will be various guided stations around the church and tea and coffee will be available on the day. Please contact Sian Goddard or Jenny Stephenson to sign up for an hour slot.

This Sunday

Please join us this Sunday at Old Kea at 3.30pm for our monthly service. This week we will be led by the Rev Chris Parsons.

Women’s Breakfast - 23rd March

This year in our Trinity Women’s Breakfasts we are looking at attributes of God -a fantastic way to encourage each other to completely rely on our God and grasp how He can be trusted with every detail of our lives. If you’re curious about who God says He is, this is a great place to start.

On Saturday 23rd March at Kea Church we are focusing on God’s self-existence, what it means for us that God is uncreated and the creator of everything. Do join us as we explore this truth and see how it can transform our walk with Christ

Trinity Evening - 20th March

Next Wednesday we will be meeting together as a Benefice for an evening of updates, stories of encouragement from each congregation, hymns and prayers for each congregation. This term we will be gathering at Kenwyn Church so do join for drinks and puddings from 7pm, with our evening together starting at 7.30pm. We look forward to seeing you then.

The Real Easter Egg

As in previous years the Open the Book team have an opportunity to give all of the Year 6 children at Kea School a Real Easter Egg. If you would like to donate towards this you can click on the picture above. We ask for a suggested donation of £5 for each egg. Thank you.

Easter Services

We are excited to share all the different services we have coming up over the Easter period at St Kea Church starting with our all age Palm Sunday service on 24th March.

On Maundy Thursday we will join together with our friends at Christ Church to for and evening of Praise and Worship starting at 7pm sharing in a meal together then taking communion. If you are looking for a more reflective/quiet service, Kenwyn Church will be holding a service at the same time.

Good Friday sees two different services, an all age family service in the morning at 10.30am and a reflective service in the afternoon starting at 2pm led by Alison Brown.

Finishing on Easter Sunday where there will be a service at Old Kea Church starting at 8.30am as well as our 10.30am service at St Kea where we will be celebrating the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, followed by an Easter Egg Hunt for the the children and young people.

Do be thinking of friends and family you could invite to these different services.

Weekly Prayer Points

Each week there will be a few things for our church life and church family that we can join in praying for:

1. Father God, we thank you for the opportunities and links we have with Kea School, in particularly through the ‘Open the Book’ Team. We thank you that they can share the bible with all the children in their assemblies. We also pray for the Easter Worskshops taking place in every class next week.

2. Lord of the harvest, we pray for all the churches who are part of the Peninsula Gospel Partnership. We ask you Lord that you might use these ministries for your glory and for the growth of your kingdom across Cornwall.

3. Gracious God, we pray for our Gospel Partners, Barnabas Fund, as they support Christian communities, churches and individuals around the world who face persecution and discrimination because of their faith.
