Families And Work

It is often said that one of the hardest things to do is to be a parent. Some would love to be parents but never have the opportunity. Others are given the opportunity but find it the biggest ‘job’ of their lives. From the early years onwards, each stage brings its own challenges, and no matter how old your children are, you never stop being a parent. 

But… if it is hard for the parents, how much harder is it for their children and teenagers? Young people seek to find their place in the world, develop their characters and personality, work their way through education, and enter the workforce in our challenging job markets. Constantly navigating a complex network of relationships and behaviours can be daunting. In the very unlikely event that any church children or teenagers are reading this (unlikely, we know), we salute you! 

Beyond families, there are the challenges of work and workplace relationships. Whatever your role, from the owner of the company to the new temporary intern, how should we act? What should be our attitudes? How counter cultural should we be for Jesus? 

This Sunday, we are going to drop into some of these themes as we continue looking at Paul’s letter to the Ephesians. We cannot cover it all, but we can make a start, and we can let the wisdom of God once again drip into our lives. 

So join us this Sunday if you are able, and we will continue to think about how we can live wisely in our modern world. There will also be Holy Communion during the service and children’s groups will continue as usual.

Is It Worth It?

We are now in the concluding weeks of ENABLE before we head to our summer break. (Don’t worry, we are already working on ENGAGE launching in September.)

We have been encouraged this year by all that God has given us to ENABLE us to serve him in amazing ways. God has lavishly provided for us: the wonderful gifts of the Holy Spirit, God’s word, prayer and one another (the church). The blessings of Sabbath and sleep, friends and creative rest (to name but a few).

In our last session, we reviewed how we might measure a ‘successful’ life lived for Jesus. We redefined success - it is not about our reputations (what others think of us) or even the results of our work (what a relief!). Success is faithfully serving Jesus, enabled by all he has given us, knowing the deep joy of being his children in his service - that our ‘names are written in heaven’.

Next week will be the final session. We will be encouraging everyone to look back and review everything we have seen this year. In our groups you might like to make it a special Small Group evening - get together and maybe enjoy some food or a summer BBQ evening. It is going to be a special evening reflecting on the year of ENABLE.

But first, one more thought this week. Despite all we have said and all that God has given us to enter into his service, we can still find ourselves wondering ‘is it really all worth it’. Is it really worth giving every aspect of our lives away in devoted service to Jesus? Should we really be all in? That is the question we will be pondering in this session. This session should act as a final word of encouragement.

Women’s Breakfast - This Saturday

There’s still time to sign up for our next Trinity Women’s Breakfast this Saturday July 6th 8.30-10am at St Kea Church and we would love for women from across our churches to join us.

Many of the songs we sing in church remind us of how we can put our trust in God our sure foundation, our rock when all other ground is sinking sand. Great is his faithfulness because there is no shadow of turning with him. And that is our focus as we meet this July, where (after a delicious and relaxed breakfast) we’ll be looking together at what the Bible has to say about God’s dependability. We will be discussing and hearing personal testimony of how that reassures us and how it challenges us.

It’s a very friendly and accessible event and a great opportunity for practical encouragement through discussion in a way that isn’t possible on a Sunday morning. Camping!

We are really excited that our Trinity Camping Weekend is just around the corner. Thank you to those who have signed up for the weekend - it's going to be great!

You can still sign up if you want to come for the day (click on the image above) and below outlines the timings of when things will be happening, so do join us for some or all of the day if you can.

Don’t forget that on Sunday 14th July there wont be a service at Archbishop Benson School and instead we will be meeting at the camp for an outside service at 10am. Please bring along something to sit on and we will provide refreshments for anyone coming for the day.

One Church - Saturday 7th September

Don’t forget to sign up for our ‘One Church’ event happening on Saturday 7th September where we will be coming together with all of the Trinity Churches for a day of teaching, fellowship and fun. The theme for the day will focus on God’s great plan to unite us together in Jesus.

The day will begin at Kea Church at 10am where we will have a time of praise and worship. This will then be followed by two sessions in the main church building led by our guest speaker for the day Rupert Shelley. After many years in ordained youth ministry, Rupert now works for the global Anglican mission organisation BCMS Crosslinks. He will be travelling down to join us from Newbury, where he serves in a multi-parish benefice. Rupert will be helping us to think about 'where all history is heading' as we look at the overarching story of the Bible

Whilst this these sessions are happening there will be activities for children of all ages from 0-16 in the church hall.

After the morning talks and activities have finished we will all head over to the Vicarage at 1pm for an afternoon garden party. There will be food, music, games and most importantly ice-cream!

It is going to be a great event to come together as ‘One Church’ so do sign up using the button below. There is a voluntary contribution forwards the food (which will be a BBQ and Salad). All you need to bring on the day is something to sit on, your plate and some cutlery.

Weekly Prayer Points

Each week there will be a few things for our church life and church family that we can join in praying for:

1. We pray for the UK ahead of the general election this week. We ask for women and men of integrity to be selected, and to stand, across the political divides. Please fill each member of our new government with wisdom as they seek to represent their constituents and equip them to govern with unity.

2. We praise God for our mission partners at ‘Mercy Rescue Trust’ who with their dedicated team have rescued and cared for 400 babies. We thank you Lord that you have provided for them through generous supporters and sponsors. We pray that they can continue this important work in providing life saving medical treatments for the babies and help them to maintain and improve a safe environment for them to live in.

3. This week we prayer for our brothers and sisters at Kenwyn Church. Andy Boorne writes ‘We just want to thank the Lord Jesus for the many ways He is touching hearts, it is so exciting to see. We ask for prayer that the Holy Spirit will continue to breath in to our hearts individually and as congregation, to shine for Him, and be like Him, and therefore be a blessing in our small corner of Cornwall.’
