In Christ - Speak Truth

If last week was about our unity as a church, this week is all about our maturity as a church. Often churches can be blown around by the latest fads and fashions. False teaching or ungodly actions can cripple the church. Yet amazingly this week we are going to learn the secret of maturity - and it starts with you.

So join for our penultimate week in this series and discover… why we need church leaders, how we can all play our part, why ‘truth speaking’ is vital and much more. Jesus longs for our church to grow up to be the mature body of Christ – let’s learn how together.

Children and young people’s groups continue and refreshments will be served before and after the service. Livestream goes live from 10.20am.

Living in Love and Faith - TONIGHT

Tonight we will be holding an informal meeting at Kea Church from 7.30-9pm for members of St Kea or Christ Church to hear where the LLF process has got to, to ask questions and to pray.

If you are unable to make this meeting and would like us to organise an additional meeting at another time do contact either Marc or Hugh. Also, if you wish to discuss any of this individually with either of them, or seek their support, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Living with Loss Service - This Sunday

On Sunday 29th October at 3pm there will be a service for those wishing to remember loved ones. If you would like to add a name to the list to be read out please contact office@stkea.org.uk. Please do also think of those in the local community who might like to attend this service and/or submit a name to be read out.

Light Party - Next Tuesday

We would love you to join us on Tuesday 31st October at Kea Church from 4 - 5.30pm for our annual Light Party. It is going to be a fun filled afternoon of games, crafts, food and music, so if you have children of primary school age or know anyone who does please do encourage them to come along. Use the sign up link below to let us know you are coming.

We are also looking for some volunteers to help run the event with all sorts of different roles, from serving food to helping with crafts. If this is something you could do please get in touch with the church office.

Tearfund Rubbish Campaign

Tearfund is holding a Week of Prayer for their Rubbish Campaign from 30 October to 5 November and at Kea we'll be holding a day of prayer in Church from 8am to 5pm on Saturday 4 November.

Our world has an urgent rubbish problem with 2 billion people having no safe way to dispose of rubbish, making people sick and causing up to a million deaths each year.

We need to add our voice in prayer to this campaign so at Kea Church there will be 8 Interactive prayer stations set up to help us, whatever age you are, to draw near to God and cry out for an end to plastic pollution and its impacts on people living in poverty.

We will also be setting up a prayer station to pray for all those affected by the terrible events in Gaza and Israel and for peace in the region.

The Church will be open all day so please do come and spend some time in prayer during the day either on your own for quiet contemplation or together as a family. Please contact Wendy Vincent for more informattion or to get involved.

Refreshments will also be served throughout the day.

Gardening Morning - Sat 4th November

Also on the 4th November please do come along and help look after our beautiful Churchyard with a morning of gardening from 9am - 12pm.

Please bring gardening gloves, pruning equipment if you have them and sturdy shoes are recommended.

Christmas Shoebox Appeal

We are taking part in Operation Christmas Child again this year and you can be a part of it.

Pack a shoebox of gifts for a child and bring it to church during National Collection Week (13-20 November). To find out what can and can’t be included click here Operation Christmas Child

Last year the youth group were able to create an additional 30 boxes from your generous donations so if you are out shopping we’d be grateful if you could pop an extra bar of soap, packet of pens, pair of gloves etc in your shopping basket and bring them into church.

There will be a festively-wrapped box at the back of church for donations and we are particularly keen to create boxes for boys aged 10-14 this year.

Kea Church is once again a drop-off centre for the community. Please encourage family, friends, colleagues to fill a shoe box and drop it off to St Kea during National Collection Week. Watch here to find out more about Operation Christmas Child.

Wreath making invitational event

To kickstart our Christmas celebrations this year, St Kea is hosting a Trinity Church wreath-making evening. Designed to bring guests to, this relaxed and enjoyable event will include a wreath-making demonstration, time to create your own beautiful wreath, and a short interview with a Christian about what Christmas means to them. Mulled wine and nibbles will be served, and materials to make the wreaths will be provided. Tickets are £15 and can be bought on the church website or by clicking the button below. Numbers are limited, so do book early to secure places for you to bring guests!

Weekly Prayer Points

Each week there will be a few things for our church life and church family that we can join together in praying for:

1. This week please continue to pray for the people of Gaza and Israel. Please pray for their church leaders for wisdom and strength to lead people through this fear and uncertainty. We pray for Christian communities and faith leaders across the region for unity, connection and mutual understanding so that they can help bring people together and show kindness.

2. Father God we want to thank you for the work of the Barnabus Fund. We pray for those encountering apparent hopelessness through war, persecution, natural disasters or extreme poverty. We thank You that through Your glorious resurrection we are born again to a living hope in You that does not disappoint us. We ask for mobilisation of resources to support our Christian family facing such suffering and that You will use Your people to help them renew their hope in You.

3. Finally let us pray for each person at Kenwyn Church, the associated wider community, and all the ways that God is blessing them with community, and his love. We ask that God will touch them again with His Holy Spirit and draw them to Him is obedience and prayer, so that all the things they do might be what he wants and done in his strength. We specifically pray that God will meet people in their daily devotions, making them more prayerful (including forming prayer triplets), and the outreach to young families through ABC, schools, our new/planned service changes, and door-to-door outreaches.
