This Sunday - What’s the point?  

Have you ever been doing something when you have found yourself asking, “What is the point?” The wonderful truth about following Jesus is that His people are given both a new identity and a new purpose. As God’s people, we never need to wonder about the point or purpose of our lives — and amazingly it is more significant than we could ever imagine. 

This week, as we continue our journey through Peter’s letter to the suffering and scattered Christians of centuries past, we’ll be reminded of some incredible truths: we are God’s place, God’s priests, and God’s special possession. 

Join us as we unpack what these powerful ideas mean and discover how they shape our everyday lives as we live on the margins of this world. God has a passion for His people. Come and explore the blessing of belonging to Him. 

Our groups for children and young people continue and refreshments will be served both before and after our gathering. We’d love to see you there.

CC Prayer - Tomorrow Evening

Tomorrow evening, instead of meeting in our Engage small groups, we will meet together as a church to pray at Alan and Jean Stanhope’s home at 7.30pm. (address details can be found on Churchsuite)

This month we will be praying for the year ahead as well as our move into Riverstreet.

If you haven’t been to a prayer evening before we would love you to come. It is a great opportunity to hear about what is happening in our church and most importantly how we can pray for these things. There is no expectation to pray out loud, so do join us if you can.

Growing Youth and Families Work

Two Sundays ago we launched a new growth initiative for 2025. This initiative is one of our PCC’s main targets for 2025 and aims to capitalise on our currently growing Youth Work. This appeal will run until Sunday 2nd February.

Update from Trinity

There are lots of great things happening in our Trinity Churches that we can be thankful to God for, so from time to time we will be sharing some of these with things with you.

This week we wanted to share the news that we now have the keys to the River Street premises that will be housing the work of Dockyard, CAP and Christ Church. Work has already started on making the building ready for use and there is great excitement about how this can open up more evangelism in our city. Thank you to all the people that have made this possible so far, from sorting utilities to knocking down walls! More updates to follow on the progress!

Parenting Evening 4th February

A Mind of Their Own is a session written by ‘Care for the Family’ that is made up of film clips and discussion questions. This session aims to provide parents of children (of all ages) with:

• A realisation that resilience can be learnt, and nurtured in the small, everyday moments of family life.

• Knowledge, confidence and practical ideas on how to help children process setbacks and bounce forward in strength, character and development.

• Insight into children’s brain development.

• An understanding that learning how to experience failure in a safe environment will improve their confidence and problem-solving skills.

• An appreciation of how vital your child’s identity is, and strategies to help them become confident in it.

We’ll be based at St Kea Church Hall from 7.00-8.30pm during the regular Tuesday Night Youth group session – younger siblings are welcome to attend youth group that evening to allow parents to attend if needed.  Refreshments will also be provided.

Women’s Breakfast 2025

Women at all ages and stages of life, and from all our churches and associated communities, join together each half-term at our Trinity Women's Breakfasts to encourage one another in our Christian lives. There is usually a short talk and a lot of time for discussion and there's always a delicious breakfast and a warm welcome. 

In 2025 our focus is Heart Matters and we'll be looking together at friendship, forgiveness, contentedness, anxiety, heaven and eternity. We welcome all women of all ages and stages of life.

Do join us on February 8th at 8.30am - 10am as we launch our Heart Matters series. We'll be exploring together how the Bible transforms both our minds and our hearts so that we might know and love our God better.

Michael Tinker Concert 28th Feb

Join Michael and the crew on a madcap adventure full of songs about Jesus! Captain Archibald is hunting through the ship for the mysterious IGASAT… will he find it? What is it? Does anyone else even care? An hour long, Bible-filled show for all the family.

The concert will be held at St Kea Church with a Kid's tea and refreshments from 4pm, the concert will start at 4.30pm. Do spread the word to anyone else who might be interested.

Weekly Prayer Points

Each week there will be a few things for our church life and church family that we can join in praying for:

1. Heavenly Father, You are trustworthy and all Your words are true. You are the solid foundation, my rock upon whom I build my trust. You are steady and ever true, always present when I need You most. Grant me endurance for this every day.

2. This week we pray for the Wallace Family. We particularly pray for Richard’s forthcoming trip to Sierra Leone where he will be going with a colleague from Alaska, called Mike, and they’ll be facilitating all 4 phases of the Divine Expedition. They will be joined by a lady called Mary from the Gambia who is coming to experience the training and explore the possibility of launching the Divine Expedition in the Gambia. Pray for safe travels, clear communication and for the Sierra Leonean team who they will be supporting run a Phase 1 in a new town called Kambia on an important trade route into Guinea. 3. Father God, Thank You for our Trinity Family. This week we pray for Kenwyn Church and for Andy Boorne. We thank You for all the people who heard Your word during the many Christmas services held there. May Your word bless these people that may not know You yet. We pray for the work Andy is doing in the nursing homes and schools in the area, that this will grow strong links with the community.
