Mother’s Day - This Sunday

As we continue our 2024 All Age series on big questions, we explore the topic of what God can teach us through our mums. Ps 131 speaks of David submitting himself to rest on God and be restful when he wants to be restless and solve the problem he faces himself. It’s a reminder that in this world where mindfulness and peace are much sought after there isn’t really a lot of it about. In our relationship with God there is contentment to be found, to rest and be rested. Though we may have painful memories or feelings connected with motherhood in one way or another, we can learn a lot from the picture God gives us as he asks us to humbly trust Him as a baby trusts their mother.

Enable - Grieving The Holy Spirit

Last week, we saw that everyone who comes to Christ receives the gift of the Holy Spirit; every Christian has the Spirit living in them right now - amazing! More than that, last week we explored what it looks like for a Christian to be to be filled with or by the Holy Spirit.

But as we read last week’s verses, about being filled by the Holy Spirit, allowing him to change the whole of our lives, we also saw a different idea - not being filled but instead ‘grieving’ the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 4:30). This is the idea we are going to explore this week.

If you want to explore this truth more, why not go back and look at last week’s session again. A number of us are also aiming to get together to reflect on this truth some more - for more information about that just let me (Marc) know.

APCM - Electoral Roll Applications

Our APCM is to be held on Wednesday 17th April at 7pm. If you are part of St Kea and have not yet completed an Electoral Roll form it would be great if you could do so asap. Closing date for applications for this year is 24th March. The form can be found on our website using the link below. Forms can be returned via email to pccsecretary@stkea.org.uk or return hard copies to the Church Office.

This Saturday - 9th March

Please come and help look after our lovely Churchyards this Saturday between 9-12. No gardening experience needed. Please wear sturdy footwear and bring gardening gloves and pruning equipment if you have them.

Women’s Breakfast - 23rd March

This year in our Trinity Women’s Breakfasts we are looking at attributes of God -a fantastic way to encourage each other to completely rely on our God and grasp how He can be trusted with every detail of our lives. If you’re curious about who God says He is, this is a great place to start.

On Saturday 23rd March at Kea Church we are focusing on God’s self-existence, what it means for us that God is uncreated and the creator of everything. Do join us as we explore this truth and see how it can transform our walk with Christ

Prayer Day

On Saturday 16th March from 6am - 10pm St Kea Church will be hosting a 24/7 prayer day focusing on Lent. There will be various guided stations around the church and tea and coffee will be available on the day. Please contact Sian Goddard or Jenny Stephenson to sign up for an hour slot.

Trinity Evening - 20th March

Once a term we meet together as a Benefice for an evening of updates, stories of encouragement from each congregation, hymns and prayers for each congregation. This term we will be gathering at Kenwyn Church so do join for drinks and puddings from 7pm, with our evening together starting at 7.30pm. We look forward to seeing you then.

Easter Choir

We will be putting together a choir to help us celebrate Easter Sunday at St Kea. If you enjoy singing and would like to help us make a joyful noise to the Lord on Easter morning, please come and join us - no experience required.

Rehearsals begin this Thursday 7th March at 7:30pm in the Church. Following rehearsals will be on 14th March and 21st March.

Easter Services

We are excited to share all the different services we have coming up over the Easter period at St Kea Church starting with our all age Palm Sunday service on 24th March.

On Maundy Thursday we will join together with our friends at Christ Church to have a wonderful Praise and Worship evening as well as sharing in a meal together and taking communion during the service. If you are looking for a more reflective/quiet service, Kenwyn Church will be holding a service at the same time.

Good Friday sees two different services, an all age family service in the morning and a reflective service in the afternoon starting at 2pm.

Finishing on Easter Sunday where we will be celebrating the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, followed by an Easter Egg Hunt for the the children and young people.

Do be thinking of friends and family you could invite to these different services.

Weekly Prayer Points

Each week there will be a few things for our church life and church family that we can join in praying for:

1. As we come to end of our Generosity series please help us reflect on what we have heard over the last few weeks and how we can serve our brothers and sisters this season.

2. Thank you God for our Gospel Partners the Wallace Family. They would like to us to praise God for their safe travels and impacting trainings in Cuba as well as 2 inspiring conferences Richard attended in February. Please also be continuing to pray for Datchet Baptist Church where Richard is working to grow deeper in discipleship, community, teamwork and leadership, and wider in blessing the local community and outreach.

3. Thank you for the Lent course being held at St John’s Church and for the people who are attending it. We pray for Jericho road as it continues working with the homeless community.
