This Sunday at St Kea - Wisdom in speech

We all know that words can be immensely powerful, and misusing our words can create a complicated tangle or perhaps even worse. Proverbs has lots of useful wisdom for us on how we use our speech. Join us for our All Age service this Sunday.

There will be refreshments before and after the service and a livestream. Prayer ministry will also be available after the service.

As many of us will be aware, this week there was a devastating earthquake affecting Turkey and Syria. Tearfund have provided some ideas on what to pray for, as well as launching a financial appeal. Click on the image below to access the prayer guide.

Away Day 11th March - sign up

Tickets for the Away Day will go on sale next week. We will be hosting the first part of the day at Truro Senior School, TR1 1TH, and then after lunch we are planning to run a couple of activity options nearby to cater for various people. Further details will be available on the booking page.

Truro Foodbank February Prayer

Please give thanks for all the customers who find their way to the Foodbank. We are feeding 50% more people than we did last year. Give thanks for all the generous donations and the fact that we have sufficient resources to enable us to respond to all who come. Please pray that all those in need will be referred and find help and that the giving will continue to meet the ever increasing demand.

Please give thanks that, although we are facing the most challenging physical, emotional and spiritual demands, our God is faithful in supplying our needs. Give thanks that staff and volunteer morale is high and that people are coming forward to offer help with goods and time. Please pray for the volunteer information evening planned for later this month (28th). Please pray too that referral agencies who have been invited will come and take the opportunity to learn more about our work.

Please give thanks for the commitment of staff and volunteers. Please pray that volunteers offering to take on more responsibility will feel supported and resourced as they move into their new roles.

Please give thanks that we have been able to extend our opening hours to meet the increased level of demand and to be more available to in work customers. Please pray  that people’s income will be sufficient to enable them to afford housing, food and heating without needing to use a Foodbank. Pray for the report from October’s Challenge Poverty Week as it is distributed to every Councillor, MPs and Downing Street. Pray for the ongoing Living Wage discussions.

Please give thanks that we have been given verbal agreement that the lease of the store will be extended for a further year even though the current premises are unsuitable for our expanding operation. 

Please pray that suitable, affordable premises will be identified swiftly.

Bringing evangelicals together

In 35 other dioceses there are fellowships of evangelicals where the aim is to provide mutual encouragement and a place for dialogue. Although there may have been a Truro Diocesan Evangelical Fellowship (TDEF) in the past, this had lapsed. In September 2021 a small group met to relaunch this and planned for an annual public meeting to take place. This is planned for 25th February and is for all church members who might be interested to attend. There will be an informal time of fellowship, pudding, sung worship, prayer, the appointment of the TDEF committee and a keynote address from the Rev'd John Dunnett. It looks like it will be an encouraging evening of fellowship and it would be great to have good representation from St Kea.

Weekly Prayer Points

This week’s prayer points:

1. Do give thanks for the money raised at the Tearfund Quiz and pray for Tearfund and other charities as they respond to the devastating earthquake in Syria and Turkey. Join us in giving thanks for the work of Truro Foodbank and all those involved from our church.

2. Give thanks for St Clement church, part of our Trinity team. Give thanks for all those who are a part of the church family who meet at St Clement. Pray for them as they share their gifts and resources with others across Truro and the surrounding areas. Pray especially for their ministry towards those who are bereaved and suffering loss.

3. Perhaps give thanks for the chance to look at Proverbs. As we explore biblical wisdom, pray that we might really learn what it is to live in that wisdom. Pray for our service this Sunday, as we hope to welcome guests to our All Age service and think about a wise use of words.
