This Sunday - Global Claims

We continue our exciting series in Acts, considering what our priorities should be in the ‘last days’ between Jesus’ ascension and return. We will continue to be challenged by the boldness of the apostles and encouraged by the power of the Holy Spirit saving people as the gospel is preached. Do join us for another exciting week.

Our Sunday Club groups are in action again this week as well, as they continue to discover God’s work amongst his people in the Old Testament. This week donkeys speak in the power of God (Numbers 22:1 – 23:12) and ‘Christ Church Kids’ are going to be seeing how lives are changed. Our new Year 6 group is also back in action as they return from the Spree weekend away.

Refreshments are served both before and after the service and prayer is always available after the service; do ask other church members or speak to the service leader.

Equip Building To Conclusion

This Week was due to be a Trinity Prayer Meeting week, but that has been postponed. Your groups might be meeting to encourage each other, to continue reflecting on EQUIP and to pray for each other.

Next Week we come to the final session in Colossians as we consider what it means to be disciples of Jesus. We’ve thought about: the freedom the Gospel brings; the focus it gives our lives and the action it demands. Next week we are thinking about our Gospel attitude.

The Week After that we have our final Small Group week of the term (week beginning 9th July). This session is a special session, quite unlike the others, and everyone will have the opportunity to share their hopes and desires for living for Christ for the year or years ahead.

Finally, do also make sure that our evening on the 20th July is in your diary - our evening of commitment and praise. This is the finale of EQUIP. We will be gathering at St Kea Church for a BBQ at 5:30pm. At 6:30pm we will join together in a time of praise and thanksgiving led by a wonderful band from both congregations. As part of that time, we will each have the opportunity to share how we want to offer our lives in the service of God. (There will be informal provision for the children.)

Baptisms and Affirmations

We are really excited to be holding our Baptism and Affirmation service at Debs and Tim Stanhope’s House on Sunday 23rd July.

The service will start at the usual time of 9.30 outside in the garden. Some chairs will be available but if you have a camping chair please bring it along. We will be baptising some of our church members in the pool and celebrating together. There will be worship and teaching as well. It will be the last week our children will be meeting together before their summer break so they will be having an end of year party in their groups.

Afterwards, everyone is invited to a bring and share lunch in the garden as well as a swim in the pool. There will be a sign-up sheet in church for the next few weeks so please say if you are able to bring a sweet or savory dish to share.

CC Prayer Meeting

Save the date - the next Christ Church Prayer Meeting is happening on Thursday 27th July 7:30pm at Alan and Jean Stanhope’s home. More information to follow nearer the time.

Accommodation Needed

St Kea and Christ Church have been a placement church for several South West Youth Ministry interns over the years. This has been a great blessing to our church family and also to the interns themselves, as they sacrificially set aside time to train for youth ministry.

We are delighted to have an opportunity to see an intern placed with us again this year. The next stage in the process is to try and find a potential host for all (or part) of the year from September to July. If you have a spare room or annexe and might be able to help then please do get in touch for further details/to explore the possibility. No commitment is required at this stage. Next Womens Breakfast - 15th July

The next Christ Church Womens Breakfast with our friends from the other Trinity Churches is on 15th July. These are wonderful opportunities for any women in our church to join together with others, enjoy friendship and food as well as a time to reflect on how we can see Jesus in all his wonder and majesty. October Youth Weekend Away

We're really excited to announce that we have a provisional booking for Heatree Activity Centre on beautiful Dartmoor for a secondary-age youth weekend away. For us to secure our booking please sign up below, paying a deposit of £5. It would be really useful for our planning to get an idea of numbers as soon as possible. The price of the weekend will be just £48, subsidised by a bursary. This includes accommodation, transport, food, a half-day of onsite adventure activity with instructors and lots other fun. Amidst all the fun, we'll also have an opportunity to look at the Bible together and think about following Jesus.

Youth Slip and Slide - 9th July

Many of you will have seen the advertising for the Slip and Slide on the Killiow Estate, and maybe even a glimpse of the equipment as they set it up ahead of opening on the 1st July. We are co-ordinating a trip on Sunday 9th July but booking is direct with the company. Please note that this is a time slot open to the public and that all children of any age need to be accompanied by an adult.

Stakeholders Consultation

We are thankful for those who came on the 10th June to our first Trinity Youth ‘stakeholders’ meeting. Following on from this, we are inviting feedback from parents and young people. The form for this can be accessed here and we’d be grateful for your responses as we plan and build teams for the future. Our second stakeholder meeting is next week on the 7th July and you can sign up to attend below.

Weekly Prayer Points

Each week there will be a few things for our church life and church family that we can join together in praying for:

1. This week we pray for the conclusion of EQUIP. Some will feel excited, others nervous, some vulnerable as we share how it is we might give our lives to the service of God in the years ahead. Pray that it will be a very powerful thing for each of us to know that our Church family is fully behind us as and praying for us we seek to live as disciples of Jesus in the whole of our lives.

2. We thank God for St John’s Church and especially for the intercession training that has happened over the last couple of weeks. We pray for the new service which is starting on the 9th July for those who are homeless and in vulnerable housing.

3. We praise God for our Gospel Partners Mercy Rescue Trust. We pray for the baby foster care program and for the members of their team who provide temporary homes for the babies, giving them the best possible environment to thrive until a forever home is found for them.
