This Sunday - Endure Suffering

This week we conclude our series in 2 Timothy. We will see Paul urging Timothy to stand firm and not give in to false teaching, as one who will stand before Jesus and give an account of his ministry. It will be a challenge to us all as we bring together all that this letter has been teaching us in our day.

Wreath making event

To kickstart our Christmas celebrations this year, St Kea are hosting a wreath-making evening. Designed to bring guests to, this relaxed and enjoyable event will include a wreath-making demonstration, time to create your own beautiful wreath, and a short interview with a Christian about what Christmas means to them. Mulled wine and sweet and savoury canapes will be served, and materials to make the wreaths will be provided. Tickets are £15 and can be bought on the church website or by clicking the image above. Numbers are limited, so do book early to secure places for you to bring guests!

Fellowship evening - 16th November

It was a great privilege to gather a couple of weeks ago for a St Kea fellowship evening. These (almost) monthly fellowship evenings are our main opportunity for gathered prayer outside of Sunday mornings and a vital time for us to pray for the ministries of our church, our mission partners and to share fellowship. We greatly enjoyed having Jedidah visit us from Kenya. The current pattern is that three times a year we will meet together as Trinity Church and in the intervening months as a St Kea congregation (with the exception of December and August).

“Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful, as you pray also for us, that God may open to us a door for the word, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ” Colossians 4:2-3

These evenings also include a time of puddings and refreshments, praise and updates from various ministries. We also try to provide different ways of praying for those less comfortable with praying aloud in a group.

Truro Foodbank Reverse Advent Calendar

As we are all aware, there is going to be increasing pressure on Foodbanks over the next few months. The Reverse Advent Calendar is a great way to help as Christmas approaches. You could do it as an individual, a family or perhaps as a Small Group and drop it off at church at the end of November so that the Foodbank have the items available in December.

Dockyard evening - ticket deadline

Sam and Erica Payne from Christ Church are launching a new initiative called The Dockyard Collective - creating safe spaces for people to rebuild in tough times. They are hosting a evening on the 11th November to raise money for a small pilot project in Truro this autumn. The night will be a celebration of Cornwall's finest with a five course tasting menu, Cornish music, and a Cornish Christmas market. Operation Christmas Child - until 14th Nov

St Kea is once again taking part in Operation Christmas Child and will be a drop-off location for the community. Please consider being part of this mission project this year – here’s how:

1. Pack a shoebox of gifts for a child and bring it to church during National Collection Week (14-21 November). Pick up a leaflet from the back of church or click the image above to find out what can and can’t be included.

2. From now until 14th November, there is also a festively-wrapped box at the back of church to collect donations of any suitable items that the youth group can then use to pack extra boxes. Last year we were able to create an additional 30 boxes from your generous donations so if you are out shopping we’d be grateful if you could pop an extra bar of soap, packet of pens, pair of gloves etc in your shopping basket and bring them into church.

3. Tell others and encourage them to pack a box and drop it off at church during National Collection Week. Please pray for a successful year for the project.

CAP Christmas appeal

Natalie Gavan writes: I have just put the phone down to a client who was in floods of tears, not coping with the cost of living crisis, having just mash potato for dinner, so her kids could eat. Also having to walk, because she does not have enough for fuel. All of this has impacted her mental health.

During the conversation I mentioned Christmas - and in tears she said I can't even think about Christmas. She represents so many of our clients going without.

Please will you donate to our Christmas appeal so we can make life a little easier this Christmas for her and other clients who are going through similar situations.

Closing date is 1st December.

You could donate: Supermarket Vouchers, Argos Vouchers or a Hamper by handing in to the Church Office.

Martin’s Men’s Breakfast

The next Men’s Breakfast will take place in the Truro Lounge, Truro at 9am on Saturday 12th November. Do come along and enjoy good food and chatting to other men in the church family or even bring a non church friend. Any queries please contact Martin Handford, details in Church Suite.

In case you are wondering when the Tearfund Big Quiz Night will be, we have booked it into the Church Calendar for Saturday 28 January. More details to appear soon.

Weekly Prayer Points

This week’s prayer points:

1. Give thanks for the many families that attended the Light Party here at St Kea on Monday. Pray that contacts made will be fruitful and strong relationships will grow leading to conversations about the Gospel.

2. Please pray for St Clement Church and their Minister the Rev Di Willoughby. Pray that we can be a supportive and loving encouragement to her and the congregation.

3. Please pray for Mercy Rescue Trust in Kitali, Kenya. They are struggling with funding to support the amazing work they are doing to find homes for vulnerable children. Pray that their prayers will be answered and all the money needed will be forthcoming.
