St Kea is committed to building relationships with the local community, and this is reflected in the youth work. We have two main points of contact with the young people of the community; Homework Group and UpBeat. If you are interested in either joining or helping at either of these groups, then get in touch with Drew for more details.
UpBeat
UpBeat is a relatively new group which meets in the main hall at Kea School. It is an after school club for young people in years 3-6.
A typical session will include games, a craft activity, a Bible time where we take the opportunity of a safe environment to explore what we believe, and a tuck shop.
If you would like to try it out, the first week is free! Thereafter it is just £1 per week, and a discount is available if you buy in bulk.
Each week the members earn tokens, which can be spent on special prizes such as books or CDs. If a member brings a friend, they get an extra token!
Homework Group
We offer a homework group twice a week in the Kea Community Centre, Playing Place:
Tuesday 7-8pm
We offer quite simply a quiet environment and useful equipment with which students in year 6 and up can get on with their work, knowing that there are adults on hand to provide help if needed.
We run the homework group according to demand, so if you are interested in making use of this service, please contact Drew, and we will make sure that we are there waiting for you, armed with hot chocolate and biscuits.
