Believing in Jesus
What does it mean to be a Christian? This life-changing news is really as simple as ABC:
Admit. The message is that we all need to be forgiven by God for the things we have done, and for who we are as members of a fallen world. We have to admit that we need God to forgive us and heal us, because we are sinful and broken people.
Believe. You can't be a Christian until you believe in Jesus. But this is not just intellectual, in your mind. Think of it as believing a promise made by someone you trust. If you trust Jesus, then you can believe the things that he said - that your sins can be forgiven and you can live for ever with him.
Come. Jesus said "come to me". You need to make the decision that you will become a follower of his. You can make a commitment to him, saying "yes, I do admit that I need you, I do trust you, and now I'm going to follow you". Ask him to give you his Holy Spirit to help you and guide you.
