Believing in Jesus

What does it mean to be a Christian?  This life-changing news is really as simple as ABC:

Admit.  The first thing is to admit that we need God.  We live in a world which, despite many wonderful things, is badly broken, and it is we humans who make it broken.  This is what we mean when we talk about "sin" - that separates us from God.  We need to admit that we need him to forgive us and redeem us.

Believe.  Being a Christian is about believing.  But believing is not just an intellectual thing.  Think of it as believing a promise made by someone you trust.  This is faith.  Having faith in Jesus Christ means believing the things that he said: that your sins can be forgiven through his sacrifice and that you can live for ever with him.

Come.  Jesus said "come to me".  You need to make the decision that you will become a follower of his.  You can make a commitment to him, saying "yes, I do admit that I need you, I do trust you, and now I'm going to follow you".  Ask him to give you his Holy Spirit to help you and guide you.  You can do this on your own with God, or you might ask a friend or Christian minister to pray with you.  Please speak to one of the team at St Kea if you would like to talk about this.
